Train sets are cool, I don't care what anyone says.
I'd be happy with a little habit if I had the time, space, and money.
Some men are born mediocre, some men achieve mediocrity, and some men have mediocrity thrust upon them.

It's the space that is the crippler! You start with a dozen pieces of track on the floor, and before you know it, you are snorting new engines every week, and moving home to get get a bigger attic...

I know a man who displays a train set every year for the holidays; he's kind of a local landmark. He spends most of the year building it.

I've got an N Gauge set, but I'm don't play with it because the girls keep trying to take the stock off the track as it goes by.

Oh dear. One of my co-workers is a train "hobbyist". He is currently buying rediculously expensive 2nd hand collector stuff off ebay, etc. and gets them delivered to work so his wife knows nothing about them. He then sneaks them home in the dark to his man-cave, or as I call it his train shed.

Train sets are how you get men to clear an upstairs room or attic.
I only had a small (it's about 4' by 3') N-gauge layout. My dad mostly enjoyed building it rather than playing with it, along with making 'authentic' changes to the bought engines and trucks like painting smoke smears and other in-usage dirt on them.
I also enjoyed loading the quarry trucks up with actual gravel and seeing if the engine could pull them up the hill.

I wouldn't know. I only pass wind twice a month: once near the beginning of a lunar cycle, and once near the end.
No, my wife doesn't believe that either...

Well I made it to Phoenix by way of carlsbad Cavern and Saguaro National park and left this morning and went to Grand canyon south rim then Monument valley. Tomorrow going to get some morning shots of Monument Valley then on to Utah's Arches National park. It's turning out to be a very active trip so far.

Break an axle.
If you drive from Monument Valley through Mexican Hat, and up to Natural Bridges you get to drive up a wonderfull stretch of road[^]. (I drove down it.)

I forgot about that one. I drove down it as well. Isn't Goosenecks State Park[^] right off of that stretch of road?
