Just reminds me about my checking account interest. I am convinced the bank spends more on the ink to print out the piddling sum then they actually give.
As for cost savings - if people would just use the back of printed sheets (instead of pads, for example), I'd suppose that'd save some bucks, too. Using fine-point pens would save ink, and thus the pens would last longer (or steal them from TD Bank, like everyone else).

I do, but then I'm just naturally mean.

How about getting rid of most printing all together?

That's an idea! I've even invented a name for it: The Electronic Office!

He's talking about changing fonts in government documents rather than bank notes: "thinner" fonts use less ink / toner than "thicker" ones.

Yes, but a thicker font is easier to read by automation.

So the government can spend more money on thing like this[^].

Just gonna leave this here and see who falls foul of the enviro-politics rule:
"$19 million to examine gas emissions from cow flatulence"

Yeah that was one of my favorites but $19 million? I'd have done it for a lot less and tested cows all over the world.

That's great, I especially like the second one. I wish they'd have links

Especially after the tax payers spent all that money on the research. I guess you could always go with the Freedom of Information Act?

I think I've heard that before. I also assume that the Americans with Disabilities Act would preclude it. At best they'd send around a large print questionaire asking whether or not you would prefer thinner letters.
You'll never get very far if all you do is follow instructions.
|
|
|
|
|
True. Then we'd need to appoint a special committee to commission a study of what the optimum thickness for letters might be, how various disadvantaged groups might be impacted by the change, what measures will be required to mitigate said negative impacts, and to recommend to Congress the enabling legislation to be debated in sub-committees before being quashed for lack of bi-partisan support, or passed with amendments entirely unrelated to the original bill which will cost 14 times the estimated savings from the original proposal.
