We used to find them in our Boy Scout paper drives. They got reused rather than recycled.

Oh, how I wish I did not read that last sentence. It conjured up some sick mental imagery.

Just had this email...
Dear David,
Thanks very much for writing in with this – very funny and quite extraordinary. How on earth did you spot it?
Anyway, I'll write this up so if it does get in it'll be in next week's mag, 1358.
Thanks again!
Best,

Private Eye is a highly regarded publication of high standard investigative journalism.
It is also a fantastically funny satirical magazine.
It is considered a badge of honour to get published in it!

I know what the magazine is. But, devoid of any context, your post is clear in it's meaning, and also meaningless. You don't say what they are publishing, you're just boasting that they are.

I am boasting that they MIGHT.
I shall wait and see.
If they do I shall post it up!
I have been in it once before, about 10 years ago.

So, the worth of sharing whatever you wrote, is intrinsically tied to if they publish it ? If they don't, it shall remain a secret ?

Yeah, I wouldn't want to build people's hopes and dreams up then dash them cruelly as it is pulled at the last moment.
BTW, I just posted something for you on FB

I presume that it is for the Luton edition?
I can't see that anyone from Luton has anything worthwhile to say that would need to be heard more than 100 yards from the airport boundary.

It is a big town 25 minutes from central London.
Granted, it's a dump, but I live and work here at the moment.

And the fact that he seldom, if ever, mentioned that fact is telling, but the real question is whether he ever wanted to go back.

Oh, he NEVER came back!
I occasionally go back to my home country, but more as an excuse to get out of Luton.

Exactly. He came from Luton but he chose to die elsewhere.

That's OK. When I was about 25 I went back to the place I lived the first 5 years of my life, looked around and said "Nah, it's just a rumor that I'm from here." Never been back since and have no plans to, either.
