You may know that flights are a problem with UK airlines at the moment, since they are very short on staff (and that's because they didn't want to pay them while lockdown was in progress I suspect)
Well ... the staff they need are laregley "airside" - working in the area where the planes are, past the customs desks - so the staff need to have background checks.
So does Herself - she works in an old folk's home, so she has to have a CRB / DSA every three years and it was due this year. So in February, she applied. And they came back to her today with instructions on how to have her documents verified ... four months to the day from the initial online application.
So, if you are in the UK, don't expect the airport fun and games to even start to clear up this side of Christmas ...

I never had a problem in Africa, two trips to SA and two to Uganda*; flights on time and as scheduled. The only problem was when changing at Dubai on one of our overnight flights home, and the airport computers went down.
*that included two internal MAF flights between Kampala and Kasese.

It would have been nice to meet up with a CP member in kasese.

It's unfortunately the same in the US. I can't remember the last time I've seen over 10,000 flights cancelled over a single weekend in the US except during a major winter storm.

Well at least it didn’t interfere with the thousand private jets getting to Davos! Couldn’t have that happen!

It was a long weekend in Oz (except Qld) so the airports went schizo and queues were so long they went outside the terminal in Sydney apparently.

I have - I've been playing with my new toys: a pressure cooker / air fryer / 11-in-one thing, and an ice cream maker.
Results so far indicate that the first one makes good chips / fries, and the second makes ok salted caramel ice cream but I need to work on the recipe as it's not set properly when it comes out of the machine ...
