My VS 2022 not even offering the update, so I went for a manual check - it runs already 45 minutes without any answer... (Checking for updates...)

Oh well... I guess I can take comfort in knowing this is definitely a problem, and hopefully going to be fixed soon...

Quote: Visual Studio 17.2 is out... Correction, that should be:
"Visual Studio is on its way out ..."

Pah... Visual Studio is on its way out as much as my car!

Thanks for the heads up.

Why the trouble? If it's out, why don't you get something more 'in'?
I have lived with several Zen masters - all of them were cats.
His last invention was an evil Lasagna. It didn't kill anyone, and it actually tasted pretty good.

Shouldn't the title read "Visual Studio 2022 v17.2 is out..."?
|
|
|
|

mmmm after starring at the title for 5 minutes... do you mean some people might be confused by the 17 and think.. mm.. I dunno.. something else?!

The update is available again.
For me starting the VS Installer from system control and select "Repair Installation" always solves the installation issue.
!!! Requires a restart !!!
After restart search for updates again ...

I finally read the Register article on the so-called "Visual Basic 7" and of course it referenced the infamous On Error Resume Next command (also found in Classic ASP).
While that can lead to bad programming practices, the devil's advocate in me asks how is it any different/worse than the C# code below, or are they both frowned upon?
try
{
SomeCommandWithRiskOfFailure();
}
catch (Exception ex)
{
}
If you think 'goto' is evil, try writing an Assembly program without JMP.
