Been there, did that, hope never to go bach, Once spent 8 hours looking for a misplaced semi-colon.

Had a similar issue with a text string copied from somewhere (Word? Web page) and inserted into VS. Was failing horribly. After a lot of time spent on this, it turns out a non-printable character was in that string....
Once I manually re-typed the string, worked just fine....

Be careful with sharing text with braces on MSTeams chat. Sometimes it inserts a “zero width space”.
This also seems to be a trick that hackers use to fake URLs!

Get up and go for a walk.
Give your subconscious a chance to work on it.
I've often had the answer during or shortly after a walk that I couldn't "see" before.
Cheers!

Yeah, I switched gears. I'll pick it up again later. I've already got some ideas on how to either narrow the problem, or uncover a larger issue. That's a start.
To err is human. Fortune favors the monsters.

Is anyone aware of a way to make MS Teams provide an audible ring through the laptop speakers even when the headset is connected? (I'm aware that other Windows telephony products that do this.)
Because I use a wireless headset I'm only wearing it during meetings and phone calls. If an MS Teams phone call rings in while I'm not wearing the headset I don't hear it, and usually don't see the little notification on my desktop. I miss calls regularly.

|
|

Is that the purpose of the Secondary Ringer function, in (Team)Settings->Devices->Secondary Ringer ?

Looks very promising! Thank you - I'll give it a try.

Don’t take away my excuse for not answering!
Courtesy at our office requires a Teams Chat Message first to see if you are available before calling. That gives a chance to put on your headset and clean any sensitive info from your desktop before saying OK

The better you get at Wordle, the less time the problem amuses you for.
How about trying to avoid 'winning', using the same rules - only use real words, must continue with greens, must reuse yellows but never repeat the position of them, and see how many tries you can do without getting the right word.
Much more challenging!

That's called "Hard mode" isn't it?

I seen a video yesterday somewhere of somebody playing "anti-wordle", which seems to be what you are looking for.
I don't play, so I haven't tried to look for it myself, but I am sure Google can get you where you need to be.

"The better you get at Wordle, the less time the problem amuses you for."
I find the same for Sudoku as well. Perhaps that's true for most puzzles (except CCC of course!)

It already limits you to real words. Having to use letters that you already know, but not necessarily in known locations, is "hard mode". I play that now and also try to do what you describe. I'm now on a streak of 121 in Ravi's version and recently ran into QUEUE.
Hard mode (at least in Ravi's version) has a smaller set of words that removes most plurals and past participles, which can make choosing a follow-up challenging. In the daily, my average hovered around 3.7 before switching to hard mode. Ravi's game doesn't track history, but I'd guess my average is around 4.3 playing the way you describe.

Does Wordle use plurals? I've only been playing a couple of months, but so far I've not seen one as the answer.
If you think 'goto' is evil, try writing an Assembly program without JMP.

I switched Ravi's version (which he says uses Wordle's word list) to Easy and also Standard, and both of them accepted LIONS as the first guess. A word not in the list gets rejected, so the answer is probably that Wordle has plurals. But I don't recall seeing one as the daily word either.

Couldn't do that, completion issues.
Wordle is like the game Mastermind but with letters instead of colors.
I’ve given up trying to be calm. However, I am open to feeling slightly less agitated.

That was also my first reaction, although the difference is that the guess has to be a proper word.

Rolo Tomassi - Prescience[^]
A friend recommended Rolo Tomassi's new album last week.
The name Rolo Tomassi sounds exotic, but they're from Sheffield, England, and all members have pretty English sounding names.
According to Wikipedia, their name is taken from a dialogue in the film L.A. Noir.
I can't say I'm familiar with their previous work, but apparently it's quite chaotic.
What I hear on this album is something between dream pop and black metal, or post-black metal.
Other terms I see are mathcore, post-hardcore, experimental and noisecore.
Whatever it is, it's not easily categorized.
This track is one of the harder ones on the album, but I just love the beginning of the track with the weird time signature.
According to the band, this song "feels very 'Hans Zimmer'" and "feels like the soundtrack to a Christopher Nolan film!"
I don't hear Zimmer or Nolan myself, but nevertheless this is song (and album) of the week

Noise of the week perhaps? (Not my style but thank you for sharing)

Didn't know them, but I'm pretty sure I'd have found them sooner or later, as this is pretty much the sort of music I've been listening to lately

The cookie monster vocals ruin it for me, but the instrumentation is interesting and masterfully played.
Zimmer might have influenced the slow, instrumental break in the middle, but yeah, I don't hear him, either.
The next track that came up for me, Almost Always, was much easier on the ears, vocally.
If you think 'goto' is evil, try writing an Assembly program without JMP.

TNCaver wrote: Almost Always, was much easier on the ears, vocally. Yeah, that's the first track on the album, there are more tracks like that.
It's the dream pop side of the album, although the background is pretty noisy at times.
The piano part on that track is a pretty big contrast with my SOTW, yet they're on the same album
