With teenagers I think not, but folk is having quite the resurgence, especially between the metal music listeners. Folk / folk metal bands are being founded daily.

My own personal taste has changed towards more vocal sophistication, such as that exposed in Apes and Babes: Baba Yaga[^] (play it at high volume!)
Apes and Babes do a lot that is not nordic folk, but nevertheless fascinating vocal performances. If you care for vocal music, you should be aware of the group.

I guess some people use this to bypass the screen-saver kicking in
It might have religeous purposes too:

I could use it to foil our security folk who want to kill my RDP sessions after 10 minutes, forcing me to re-enter a 22-character password to get back in about 30 times per day.

I'll have to look at that on my personal PC. My employer has nanny software that blocks sites it thinks are shareware/freeware sites.

Why not just set your screen timeout longer?
|
|
|
|
|
Because IT won't let you override their timeout, and are using when the screen is open as a way to track your activity.
Of course such snoopy companies would never actually look at what you're doing and notice you're just fidgeting with the mouse all day.

Are you able to change registry settings?

If I was in that situation I'd change my employment settings to 'Elsewhere'.

I guess this is fine if you don't have your screen lock automatically for security reasons, after a certain period of time.
I could never use this at work or home. but, interesting, yes.

I have a software variation of it, called MouseJiggler. It requires no install and does the same, also with the option of not actually moving the cursor but tricking the system.
I used it when I was working from home from my personal PC (strictly forbidden but it was the only one I could use sensible software with) and didn't want to appear inactive on Teams.

Seems a little overkill to me, going the hardware way.
I also have trouble with my OS logging out extremely often, and no setting in the registry has been able to prevent that.
So I wrote a small utility program that can keep the system from logging out. Took very little time and works like a charm.
