Quote: AI in action here in never-never land:
07:30AM (left pond): Power goes out.
11:30 AM: against my better judgement, I call FPL (power company). All responses from digital.
Auto response: We are aware of an outage in your area, affecting 10 customers. The problem is a transformer, we are very sorry, blah, blah, etc. We estimate that the outage will be resolved by 1:15. Would you like us to send updates?
Me (I will never learn): Sure.
4 trucks now on my street.
2:15: Still no power, no updates. Foolishly (I am an old fool), I call again. Same mumbo-jumbo but now "we have no estimate of the resolution time". Trucks are gone.
3:15. Power comes back on.
Voicemails,text:
4:41: This is your update from FPO [sic], our resolution specialist is on the scene and determining the cause of the outage.
4:43: This is your update from FBI [sic], calling to confirm that power is now back on. The cause of the outage was:
(different voice) "we are sorry, an application error has occurred. Goodbye". FBI? Hmmm.
I suggested that they connect to CP and ask for some codez.

If something has a solution... Why do we have to worry about?. If it has no solution... For what reason do we have to worry about?
Help me to understand what I'm saying, and I'll explain it better to you

4:45: This is your update from FPL, calling to inform that the application error caused a wrong message to be sent to you. We apologize for that. We get to understand that the power has not yet been restored. The issue has been escalated to a higher level. Will be attended to shortly.
Meanwhile, the reality is that power has already been restored.

Catmeat has now dug all of her kibble out of the bowl and onto the floor in defiance of the new "tip proof" setup.
It was primarily to keep her from spilling the water that we put in it. But now after a couple months of having it she has a new trick. Paw all of the kibble onto the floor.
Bear in mind this is our 4th tip proof setup, her having defeating the rest in unarmed combat.
I should sell her to the people that make it so they can run advertisements.
I don't understand why she has to be so bloody orange.
For the record, I did not pick this cat out. But she has decided I am hers. Now hubby has zero cats, and I have two. His fault. All of this is his fault.

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to find out what's annoying her and remove it from the environment.

I've had cats, I like cats.
They do stuff like that though.
My lab is just happy I have keys and that she can go too.

Hi All,
Everyone I sure has at one time or another just quickly knocked together an application to solve a problem. It gets seen and feature creep sets in and before you know it your simple app is a monster of hastily added features bordering on spaghetti code. You end up afraid to change bits incase that throws off something else (in my case timing to the serial port(!) so you wait until everyone has gone home to test the changes they want hasn't caused the system to break. Just done that, appears to work. I am starting to think it's Indiana Jones and the boulder.
So come Tuesday it should software wise work.

I've mentioned Edge's "Read Aloud" function a few months back, saying it's actually tolerable as a text-to-speech reader. I like it 'cuz I can have it read news in the background while I'm doing something else that needs my actual focus.
Lately...it's broken. It'll pause before going through an entire sentence. Sometimes it'll resume on its own, but most of the time it'll just sit there doing absolutely nothing, and I have to click on pause/play for it to resume, and then it might make it through another sentence before it pauses again. Refreshing the page and retrying generally doesn't help.
The shortcut to it is Ctrl-Shift-U. Is anyone seeing this? I find this to be an actually useful feature, and I'd hate to give it up, especially since it's been working fine for months and months.

It seems to be working fine for me.
BTW, I use this to proof-read documents/articles before release. Your ear detects a different set of errors than you eyes.

That's a good idea - except it means booting Edge, and I try to avoid that.

Meh. You know most of it's already running all the time, it's just the browser UI that won't show up until you click its icon...

... and I was reading the "What's new?" page. Spotted the new "Reading mode":
Quote: Simplify your reading experience
You can make it easier to focus on text by reducing distractions from images and videos with Reading mode. You can also adjust the font, text size, background color, and more to what works best for you.
- Go to a site where you plan to do some reading.
- Right-click on the page and select Open in Reading Mode. Text from the site will appear in the side panel.
- Select which reading customization options to apply to the text. If you want to resize the side panel, click and hold the Drag
icon
Could be useful; I'll try it. What page ... Hmmm ... How about "What's new"? It's kinda cluttered ...
Quote: Reading mode isn’t available on this page
Reading mode can't find the main content on this page
Doesn't work on CP either.
