Thanks - that seems like another good option that I hadn't thought about - mainly because I didn't know it could be done! It also sounds like it wouldn't break the copyright as the original is not edited.
Now off to find out about SRT! I know nothing about video other than as a consumer!

Thanks very much for that. My armoury for the coming fray is filling quickly! Spoiled for choice now.

There's probably something that can already do this with lyric cue points in MIDI files.
I'll go hunting. Of course, you'd have to track the performance in MIDI format, but there are tools for that too, because it's MIDI.
Edit: I'm shocked. I've found people asking the same question - how do i do this with MIDI, but no great responses.
This is a karaoke feature - MIDI karaoke files contain embedded lyrics w/ cue points, so any decent video editor should support it out of the box or with a simple plugin, however.
I just don't have one to confirm it.

I just found two £20 notes on the mantelpiece, and I have no idea where they came from.
I'm pretty sure they weren't there two weeks ago when I put the Christmas decorations up, Herself doesn't touch cash (or even go shopping) and we haven't had any visitors (Covid and all that, you know).
I can only guess it's an anticrime (like Breaking-and-Decorating*), or the cat is hunting for money instead of rodents these days ...
* Breaking-and-Decorating is where you wait for the victim to go on holiday, then tastefully decorate the house for them.

It's obviously Santa. The cat isn't going to leave money where someone might find it. They're not stupid!

You probably left a tooth there.
If you can keep your head while those about you are losing theirs, perhaps you don't understand the situation.

£40 for a single tooth? Prices have gone up!

Actually, check more clearly to notice if anything's missing. In particular, check for missing shiny things.
There's been a spate of material objects unpurchasing themselves of late. Some claim it's being done by intruders with a psychological need to unbuy, and, having run out of their own property, have taken to random acts of commerce. Others claim it's cheese-board sets saving the recipient the trouble of picking out which to return. Personally, it's is my opinion (hence, "personally"), the scented candles that are likely involved.

I was on my way to a meeting, on my bike. I did a u-turn at the lights, skirted between some cars and up on to the pavement. And, just ahead of me was Donald Trump. As I got alongside him I slowed to match his pace - but stayed on my bike. He looked at me and, waving his finger at me, said: "You didn't think I'd be here, did you?". I admit I was surprised. I thought he was going home yesterday.
We got to the meeting and it transpires that Donald has stayed on to see a video that Matt, (one of my work colleagues), has done! I'm thinking: "Was it really worth staying on for this?". In an attempt to be diplomatic, (unusual for me!), I ask: "Couldn't we have just put this on a DVD and posted it?" And then my alarm went off...
... so we'll never know!

0) Read 2 books so far ( Shoe Dog, The Happiest Man on Earth ) and on to third one ( Dare to Lead )
1) Learning a programming language that I may never use ( Rust. Just out of curiocity. )
2) Need to do some certification that work will ask for next year. This is on todo list. May get to it in next few days.
3) On call support for work while everyone is on leave. So far only couple of support issues from clients so going well in that regard.
How are you all coping this holiday season ?
