I realize I wasn't as clear as I ought to be: I was able to FTP into my drive - just as good for almost any purpose.
Now the system's running Win7 Pro - not Win10. This one's also Win7 but doesn't have the full directory tree described in the file but also doesn't have any mapped drives so perhaps those files are only created as needed.
I'll check on the other system somewhere along the way - got to get to work, now, and doing the feet-up-on-the-recliner-big-TV-monitor routine.

I have a DNS-320 (presumably an older model than yours) and that works fine on Windows 10 (free upgrade from Windows 7). It has been set with a static IP address and has node names defined in my C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc\hosts file. It works OK from MS-Edge (for the admin menus) or using n/w shares on Windows Explorer / DOS and as a media center (or from my Raspberry PI, but that is not relevant) its firmware version is 2.02, firmware date 09/23/2011 (there are no more recent firmware versions for it).
Question: Did you used to map the whole drive to a single share or did you create multiple shares on the drive? I don't know if that is relevant or not as, although I have multiple share on the NAS disc, I can still refer to the whole disc as \\nas\Volume_1 (or \\192.168.1.253\Volume_1)

I used the utilities that came with it - like "find the drives" and then "map the drive". And it sat that way happily for years as Drive N: when it was powered up.
As far as anything Win10? So far as I know, it's never been in my dwelling let along on one of my systems. My most recent PC buy, a NUC, is running UBUNTU. My opinion (belief, faith, dogma) is that if MicroSloth want's to modify my computer whenever they want to and not give me a say in it then they can start by buying me the computer. My upgrade from Win7, when necessary, will be some form of Debian

At one time, "Help" was integrated into Visual Studio.
Then it was "local" and "online" help / docs; and you could use one, the other, or both.
Then, it was online only.
Now, hit F1, wait, and eventually you get the "main" MS docs page. Nothing else.
Yeah .. I'm all excited about installing the new Win update. Not.
(MS Edge still won't run properly on my MS Surface. It even hijacks my IE session sometimes, which works, to show it is "better", while actually showing it is not. The "tool" area alone takes up over half the screen due to improper scaling)

This one sounds familiar, like it's been on here before. But I can't remember the answer, nor can I work it out.

But I'll take it if you want.

Oooo! Hang on - may be a problem, I've got to go out tomorrow AM. I'll see what I can do, but it might be early with a late "WINNER" announcement. Depends how it all goes.

Nope. Is it a reference to something?
If I had to guess based on the choice of words I might lean towards something Monty Python related, but nothing comes to mind.
