I'm not worried one instant for JSOP. But he's at home, not at the office...

The problem these days is finding any barbarians.
They even have smartphones and indoor toilets in Alaska, now.

Point out to them that what they're doing is taking your guns away because they're short on shells, then telling you to practice by dry-firing the guns.
They might understand it in those terms.

is more difficult with multiple personalities: mine have different definitions of "in," and "out."
i have the same problem with them that Alice had with Humpty-Dumpty:Quote: "I don't know what you mean by 'glory'," Alice said.
Humpty Dumpty smiled contemptuously. "Of course you don't- till I tell you. I meant 'there's a nice knock-down argument for you!'"
"But 'glory' doesn't mean 'a nice knock-down argument'," Alice objected.
"When I use a word," Humpty Dumpty said, in rather a scornful tone, "it means just what I choose it to mean- neither more nor less."
"The question is," said Alice, "whether you can make words mean so many different things."
"The question is," said Humpty Dumpty, "which is to be master-that's all."
Alice was too much puzzled to say anything; so after a minute Humpty Dumpty began again. "They've a temper some of them- particularly verbs: they're the proudest- adjectives you can do anything with, but not verbs- however, I can manage the whole lot of them! Impenetrability! That's what I say!"

... who has just been paid a significant amount of money to set up the IT infrastructure for 20 employees to work from home.
And because of where he is sitting he can monitor how many of them actually are ... four.
But as he says, he's paid to set it up so they can, not report how many actually are ...
But if you are working from home, it's probably worth knowing that your activity - or more specifically your lack of it - can and probably will be monitored by somebody. 'Nuff said.

*lol* a new kind of paranoia? For this I have my service to ping my pc at the company regularly
Serious: What is the measure how much I work from home? The IP traffic?

Depends - I guess - on how you are doing it. Remoting in would be best for security, but presumably would give the "best" monitoring as far as the company is concerned. Source control systems would reflect your push / pull stats, as if you were working at your desk.

No sorry again. E.g. Push/Pull for a Source Control System does not even count.
What counts is simply: You work for a week on a specific job and the progress to reach the target counts. E.g. did I implemnt this or that requierement so far.
And all this can neither be measured in online time, push/pull from whatever, only the testers answer counts

You know that; I know that. But management generally is somewhat clueless when it comes to "measurables".

Something different here. I'm always asking me when working at home: How can I manage to work so little at home also?

And how's that measured exactly?
If a VPN connection is needed for anyone to do anything, and nobody's connected...then yeah, someone has a problem on his hands. But how do you otherwise make the assertion? Software running on the endpoints?
