Hi All,
Has there been an Office or Windows update recently that reinstalled some drivers for the USB? I ask as PC lost the ability to access it's keyboard, well the 'num' lock still turned on and off! The issue was the keyboard was dead the mouse was dead! As I locked the machine I could log back in, off went the power switch out came the power cord! All is good but I have noticed the Icons for Orfice have changed!

safe mode working? perhaps then can roll back updates.
otherwise an old (vanilla) plug in USB keyboard & mouse?
if it were anything but windows I would wonder why and even more HOW an application update would break the operating system.
after many otherwise intelligent sounding suggestions that achieved nothing the nice folks at Technet said the only solution was to low level format my hard disk then reinstall my signature. Sadly, this still didn't fix the issue!

At a guess, it's a wireless KB and mouse, and the dongle is dead / missing?
Worth a try unplugging the dongle, waiting ten, and plugging it back in - or swapping it with some unsuspecting cow-orker...

I used to love PS2 ports solid reliable, could be hit with lightning (got lucky) shorted to your harts content. USB not so much, in a past existence it managed to kill the USB on a PC...

I used to suggest coffee: poured into the machine,
if that didn't fix it then at least it would be replaced by a new one that does work.
100% chance of success in my book.

Not so reliable - there is a fuse-that-looks-like-a-resistor soldered onto the MB which blows when you plug the keyboard in with the power already on ... that's fine when you know it's there and can wield a soldering iron, but when you don't it gets expensive!

Well, as any of the experts at microsoft will tell you, you can't underestimate the power of new icons.
Reminds me of one of my favourite boot-up error messages from the pre-XP days:

Don't rely on driver dates; even if Windows Update had suddenly decided to replace drivers on its own, there's no guarantee they'd have a recent date.
The Windows event log should show some strong hints as to whether new drivers have recently been installed on your system or not.

Georg Friedrich Händel - Lascia Ch'io Pianga (performed by Cecilia Bartoli)[^]
I heard this song on the radio about two weeks ago.
Although I didn't know Händel composed it, I recognized the song right away.
A couple of days later I remembered, I knew this song from a Best Of Sarah Brightman album.
Someone else later said to me that Celtic Woman sang it too, so I've heard it from them too.
It's also a popular classical piece, so I've probably heard it performed by orchestras as well.
So I've known this song for many years, but this time it really got to me and I've been playing it a lot.
Apparently, Händel used the melody in his opera Almira and later used it in his opera Rinaldo, for which it's mainly associated with.
Bonus SOTW joke!
What are the first three numbers of an opera singer's phone number?

Wow, I am enjoying your tastes on this wavelength. Wonder if I can lure you into Gesualdo territory: [^] ?
Lascia ch'io pianga
mia cruda sorte,
e che sospiri
la libertà.
Il duolo infranga
queste ritorte,
de' miei martiri
sol per pietà.
Let me weep over
my cruel fate,
and let me sigh for
liberty.
May sorrow shatter
these chains,
for my torments
just out of pity.

Never heard of Gesualdo, but it seems he was quite skilled as a composer: "As a composer he is known for writing intensely expressive madrigals and pieces of sacred music that use a chromatic language not heard again until the late 19th century."
Maybe he's lost some popularity because of this: "However, the best-known fact of his life is his brutal killing of his first wife and her aristocratic lover upon finding them in flagrante delicto."
Oh, I'm sorry, it appears he's innocent: "Due to his status as a nobleman, the Gran Corte della Vicaria found that Gesualdo had not committed a crime."
Anyway, I got into choral music just last month: Sound of the Week of 20 Dec 2019[^]
So yes, you can lure me into Gesualdo territory.

During one of my presentation the statement I wrote was " blah......., therefore the possibility of missing the deadline is very high".
The whole discussion later was if I Should have used possibility or probability. My argument was that since its more on a gut feeling and guestimate , I used Possibility.
IMHO probability should be used if its backed on the solid and valid statistical numbers.
Your thoughts?

My thought is that if you're going to miss the deadline you shouldn't worry so much about probability vs. possibility

But it's going to be the best bike shed ever.
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, weighing all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?
