Yep, i can't remember the last time I had them both off. Last year I had to leave the house on boxing day at 6am, so never enjoyed christmas day, and then was working new year.
Planning on excessive food and drink this time, especially new year!

Probably ... at least up to the 2nd.
If I can just make the darn HR website work.

Since I am stuck in 'murica for the foreseeable future (or at least until my lottery ticket wins something substantial) I don't get Boxing Day (they actually think it is to do with cleaning up the boxes the Xmas presents came in - barbarians!). I save up most of my limited vacation time for the xmas to new year period so I am off from the 21st of December until the 6th of January, yea!
Merry Christmas and a Gravy New Year to all!

My customers will be off for 2 weeks starting next week. I've already made plans to work a 2nd job (normally my 2 Saturdays a month gig) for at least 8 of those days. OK, the 2nd job is unsupervised and mostly boring so I will actually be coding for my consulting job from another office.

I'm not. Instead I'm shutting down in an hour or two and will be out until the 2nd, which is still a 14 day break!
Plus the 2nd and 3rd will likely be pretty dead so it gives me time to get caught up on any stuff I missed and ease myself back into the groove.

I'm off the 23rd thru the 2nd. Plan to spend my holiday writing code (Android), playing and recording music, and decluttering my home (or at least one bedroom).
Code, beautiful code...

I'm doing exactly that, but only the 25th, 26th and 1st are officially recognized as statutory holidays. The extra days come out of my vacation pool. Which I'm ok with, since--even after this--I'm still bringing forward another 7 leftover (unused) vacation days into 2020.
I hardly take time off during the summer, so it pays off at this time of year. 2019 was unusual, in that I've burned through 4 weeks last summer, as I still had many unused days from the previous year. Otherwise I risk either losing them, or getting them paid out (which the tax man makes it not worthwhile - I need the time more than I need the extra money).

Except that a lot of companies nowadays, if you take vacation days adjacent to holidays, the holidays are counted as vacation days, not paid vacation days. Another way "the man" s**** you over.

Oddly enough it must be missing multiple times. That's why they always reference The First Noel.

This may have been discussed here before, so my apologies if I missed it. I did search on here before posting.
Do any of you have experience or suggestions about finding remote work as a programmer?
I’ve been a software engineer for a long time, and for a number of reasons, would prefer to take contracts or direct hire to work remotely.
Do recruiters have any interest/clientele in matching us up with remote work jobs?
What methods do you use to find remote work jobs (contract or direct hire)?
Any interesting stories about remote work jobs you have had?
Thanks in advance.

"remote" as in far flung places ( @daveauld comes to mind) or off-site / work from home?

For me, work from home. Others may be interested in remote “far flung” locations for jobs, though. Good point you made.

Or remote as in 'TV Remote' ?
Would coding something like TeamViewer be considered remote work?
