Waste of Space Orchestra - Seeker's Reflection[^]
One of my favorite metal bands, Oranssi Pazuzu, teamed up with another pretty amazing band, Dark Buddha Rising, to form Waste of Space Orchestra and unleash some spacey metal unto the world.
It was played live at Roadburn Festival 2018, but released as a studio album this year.
And I've finally gotten around to giving it a good listen.
Well, it's awesome!
It's a psychedelic metal journey that's not exactly an easy listening experience.
I guess it's more Oranssi Pazuzu than Dark Buddha Rising, but that's not a bad thing.
I was waiting for a new album anyway and this may well be it.
Highly recommended if you're a fan of psychedelic metal from Finland

I was listening to an album called Crystal Machete by Wes Borland the other day for the first time, and I got to a track called White Stallion[^], which for some reason reminded me of your Sound of the Week's.
I think it's the retro gaming vibe that made me think of your weekly posts, have you heard the song before?

Didn't know it.
It's not quite what I was expecting from the musical brains behind Limp Bizkit
According to Wikipedia "The album was conceived as a soundtrack to an imaginary '80s movie."
That explains a lot

I've seen some of his other videos as well.
It's pretty good and the guy's pretty funny

I get the feeling that the only socioeconomic group that is decently wealthy that supports UBI are techies. It must be that software is the ultimate zero-marginal-cost economic good there is, and programmers are incentivized, when they have the time, to contribute to shareware - so we can see an economic system based on folks doing k3wl stuff for the benefit of all.

I don't agree with that. There are other professionals and artists that have similar incentives and drive.
BTW, UBI is a really-bad-idea.
And that's all she wrote.

Amen brother. The only societies that function with UBI and no one ever having to work exist in science fiction and Star Trek (yes, I know that's redundant). UBI sounds like a good idea - like socialism, but it ignores the 80/20 universal rule - 80% of the work is typically done by 20% of a group.

Unfortunately we don't really have a good forum anymore to discuss the political and socioeconomic impact of UBI, and how it really is not good for anyone in the long run.

That isn't support. Nor is a billionaires opinion on money really relevant to this discussion.

Find any actual techies (real people doing real tech jobs) that support UBI.

I don't think it's related to social group at all...
More like people interested in science. Could be anyone.
(and you'd be surprised to know that many economist like the idea!)
there is no doubt could be good for the overall economy and everyone. The question would be.. what is the right amount?
Could be anything from 0 to a lot.. And certainly depends on local factor such as how automated is your economy and how many natural resources you have..
But, well... social and political experimentation is notoriously hard to do...
Look at all this people saying straight out forcefully no, not even stopping to consider whether it might benefit them indirectly or not (as in, a stronger consumer economy, benefits everyone, for example)

We already have UBI in place. The amount is currently set at 0 but that may change... ...eventually.
