If something has a solution... Why do we have to worry about?. If it has no solution... For what reason do we have to worry about?
Help me to understand what I'm saying, and I'll explain it better to you
Rating helpful answers is nice, but saying thanks can be even nicer.

Sound advice, but luckily it's only one wall that has to be done, we want to cover up some nasty cracks.
Wallpapering seems to be very easy nowadays, you can just put the glue on the wall and stick the glass fiber wallpaper on it.

Yeah, I know it's supposed to be very easy.
I'm still hiring someone
I painted one wall in my own house, one small wall in the kitchen.
It was horrible, I had do it over and when I was done (for the second time) it still looked like sh*t and I realized I forgot to fill up some holes.
I couldn't be bothered by doing it a third time so I just left it like that.
Lesson learned: next time, hire someone even for one small wall!
I've never wallpapered in my life, but getting it off is enough hassle to hire someone to do it all.
And I have a similar experience in the garden
I'm just not made to work with my hands (unless it's at a keyboard)

What can I say? Some of us are made for honest (== hot, sweaty, dirty, outside) work, and some aren't
Small jobs (e.g. filling in some cracks, painting a wall) I do myself. Anything to do with electricity or water is done by professionals. Wallpapering is right at the limit of my abilities, so I'd hire someone to do the job. Life is too short to live with minor aggravations like crooked wallpaper etc.
Freedom is the freedom to say that two plus two make four. If that is granted, all else follows.

Daniel Pfeffer wrote: Some of us are made for honest (== hot, sweaty, dirty, outside) work, and some aren't I do lots of dishonest work.
Like groceries, they're all like "this is a good time to come and get us!" and then it's all busy at the store or it starts raining.
Or starting the dishwasher, which is all like "I need some brightener!" and then I get the brightener, but it's actually near full.
And of course coding, and the code is looking compilable, but then I get all kinds of compile errors.
Or worse, the compiler works and tells me the software is good to go, but when I run it I get runtime errors.
Dishonest work, all of it!

Whenever I would go into a neighborhood to work 2 things would happen within a day or two; 1. The sound of men in the area using power tools and the resulting dirty looks I got from them, 2. Women asking me how much I would charge to do such and such that they've been trying to get their husbands to do forever.
Got a lot of work that way.

I feel your pain - my mother moved into an old folks bungalow after hes cancer diagnosis, and some f*ckw*t had Artexed the Elephanting walls. Guess who got to remove that lot?
The final method was an industrial steamer rental, and a quick lesson in plastering ... followed by getting someone else to do the papering.
Artex should be governed by the Geneva Convention...
