age of real-time, age of virtual faces,
age of a binary storm's surge spilling
over imagination's flood wall to drown
imperfection in unattainable images of
flawed mortality rebooted into a dream
of perfect self-referential reflection
here is the shadow of a forgotten body
singing i'n a fugue of clicking fingers:
a child, lost in the new meme's parade,
holds the broken toy other people told
him was a life in the digital eternity
where he'd never face lonely's sorrows
all the old has become a table where a
near future eats the heart of the past
~ "age of real-time," a sonnet: published under the terms of CPOPL (Code Project Open Poetic License) © 2019, Bill Woodruff
after writing this, I realized it "resonates" for me with lines from William Blake in "The Four Zoas: Night the Eighth:" “All futurity seems teeming with endless destruction never to be repelled; Desperate remorse swallows the present in a quenchless rage.”

Sorry, but I can't resist: Put this text into the opening crawl of Episode IX and let it scroll off into space while playing the Star Wars theme.

Ah, time to post another one of the slightly modified Darth Vader scenes that Sander liked so much:
Star Wars op Kölsch (Teil6) better quality - YouTube[^]
Towards the end:
Officer: If the Millenium Falcon has gone to light speed...
Vader: Ok,ok, I did not want to know that. I want to know if you are going to find them or not.
Officer: We will find them!
Vader: Right thinking, because if you don't it's you who will go to light speed!

Great idea: the CPOPL license permits such artistic reframing, media extension. Just remember that Bob must appear ... his complete image ... on-screen, undistorted, unobscured by other graphic elements, and never less than 128 points tall.
cheers, Bill

Would Bob as nose art[^] on a Star Destroyer be sufficient?
Edit: That also reminds me of my evil plan to take Bob on a ride in a helicopter...

The new Dark Crystal series on Netflix makes me feel like a kid again
The nostalgia clouds my judgement, but I'm pretty sure it's a good watch even without the nostalgia
I had the movie (taped from TV) on VHS and I must've watched it every weekend, good old times!

|
So, that must have been before Crystal Meth then ?

I went from the Dark Crystal to Crystal Meth, but the worst was yet to come... Crystal Reports!
My family gave my a choice: quit Crystal Reports or you'll never see us again.
I went into rehab and I'm sticking to the meth now

The movie's on Netflix too if you want to complete the set.

I have it on DVD as well, but it's been at least seven years ago since I've last seen it.
I might as well watch it again after this

The Skeksis were very promising. Not quite ready for prime time evil yet, but they would have gotten far.

One of my favorite movies as well. And I have it on DVD.
Unsure a series could be made though. Like Highlander, it's really a stand-alone story.
|
|
|

It's a prequel, so it tells how the Skeksis wiped out all of the Gelflings (except for Jen and Kira, of course).
Everything has to be made into a series nowadays.
Stuff like Fargo, From Dusk Till Dawn, A Series Of Unfortunate Events, LOTR, Marvel and DC both have at least five running series...
And then there are the hundreds of original series that aren't based on a book or movie.
Sometimes I'm reading about a new upcoming series and I can only roll my eyes and sigh...
In the case of The Dark Crystal it's worth it though

Neeeeeerd!

Hi All,
CodeWraith and I were having a discussion about level shifting found the thing from TI I have used in the past for level shifting: http://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/txb0108.pdf Down side more IC's Up side easier interfacing...

I have found this 8 bit bus transceiver[^], also from TI. It's very similar to the old 74XX245 bus transceivers that I have used for many years. I just have not found anyone who sells them yet.
Now I already have two reasons to level shift my data bus. The first was to interface a PIC32 as VGA graphics chip with built in video memory. The second is a USB interface for memory sticks. It takes care of the entire file system and offers a simple parallel 8 bit interface, again at 3.3 V. That would be all the SSD/hard disk this little computer will ever need, but I will also try to use yet another PIC as IDE port.
