Standards are attempted by team managers who get tired of fixing the same exact type of bug over and over. So they come into the world through the best of intentions.
The problem with standards is that they can limit creativity, which itself is a critical part of programming.
So, how do you have both? That is the big question we are all still trying to find the answer to. There are lots of ideas and attempts, which means there is a lot to research and a lot more that can be tried.

Sort of reminds me on the MBus standard. There's 2 bytes there that encode 3 ASCII letters to pose as a vendor code. With 3 letters, it's possible to use some abbreviation as the magic ID which, while it doesn't solve all problems, helps a lot over plain numbers.

For decades I've read posts here about the culinary marvel known as "curry," but in all my travels around the US I've never found one that was more than mildly interesting. Wimpy, in fact, would be a better term. But finally I've found a local source of curry that truly satisfies! Official Bangkok River Thai Restaurant | Bullhead City, AZ | View and Order Online[^] recently opened right here in beautiful downtown Bullhead City, AZ, and it's awesome! I'm currently supping on a nice Pa-Nang Curry (thermal index 3 - they go up to 5), and it's truly delicious. It also works wonders on sinus congestion, at long last! Better yet, they deliver, even to the gun shop where I work a couple of days a week! If God made better stuff than this, He kept it for Himself!

How far does it deliver?
I have to travel three hours to get a decent curry, here.

About 10 miles, I'm guessing. The owner, an Aussie, does the deliveries himself, and often buys a gun while he's delivering to us.

Would throwing the curry at said peons be considered chemical or biological warfare?

Is he making you praise his food at gun point? Aussie -> Thai food -> Curry? Smells fishy!

Was in a Thai restaurant in NZ, asked for chili (to spice things up a bit, it was bland-as even though we asked for "very spicy")
the reply was "what's that?" (and yes, the server looked Thai, likely though 3rd or 4th gen local)
I could almost have understood, "sorry we don't have any," but not, "what's that?"
pretty much standard throughout Asia (already mixed in, chlli-pati - the small quite hot ones) and even then they then still provide extra on the side if you want even hotter.

On a completely unrelated note, I've always wondered why Americans put the name of a state after a city name, like Bullhead City, AZ.
Also, almost always the abbreviation so non-Americans have no idea what you're talking about.
I've checked AZ to be Arizona and I was right
I think I've only seen Americans and Canadians do this (and I don't know Canadian states).
Is it something you do by default because a lot of states have the same city names?
I could only find one Bullhead City.

It's not even enough to add the state behind the name. Just check how many Berlins there are in Ohio.
