codewitch honey crisis wrote: I badly want to post it but it's thousands and thousands of lines of code My suggestion would be to first upload (well-documented) code to Github, and then write one or more articles. Start with a small .md , then expand that as time permits. But yes, it does require a time commitment, which is precisely why I haven't (yet) open sourced several of my large (and extensively used) apps.

I'm busy doing my initial commit.
It's taking some time because the VSIX project is huge (hate that!)
That's a good idea to use the github README.md to flesh it out. I think I'll do that.

I wrote something along those lines I call my GLplayground. I use it for messing around with OpenGL. The framework makes it very easy to add a new experiment : add a button to the menu and implement a new object class with just a few methods and it's ready to go. The other day I added a new experiment in about an hour which is exactly why I made the whole thing in the first place. It's rather trailing edge technology so I expect very little interest in it but it makes some really cool images.
Maybe if you make yours flexible enough other people will want to use it for their own experiments. That is, if there are any other people who do those kinds of experiments. I wouldn't know.

I wrote it primarily to help me research how to do LL(k) parsing because I never went to school for compsci - I wound up at microsoft at 18.
So I don't understand a lot of the math formalisms used in such algorithms, although I understand how to code them once I can crack their meaning, if that makes sense. It has been a slog.
I've learned a bunch though already.
Still chasing the holy LL(k) grail though. Right now the project only does LL(1)

As, um, a well-known CP author, my first rule is, write it for yourself first -- it's an immensely useful thing to do, I've found.

absolutely and I totally did that. I love this toy. =D
Edit: oh you mean the article. Who was it that said "I hate writing, but love having written?"

PS - my avatar is an image generated by my playground app. I call it a swollen asterisk.

Where are the ones to write the code that I hate writing?

I think you'll have to code the AI first before it can write the code you hate writing.
