I want to be somewhat near my family, at least for easy weekend trips. I don't think Kosovo qualifies...but the company doing the contract work is the same company doing contract work in Romania, so maybe it would give me an "in" for a position there when one opens.
The tax-excluded aspect of it is a big plus, of course.

You don't want the responsibility of settings next week's theme?
It's part of the reason I haven't answered yet... But also, I only have half the solution

I have a complete solution, and it fits very well - Oh sod it, it's Friday...

I got "Insignia" and the fact I had to remove part of it, but hadn't worked out the rest until OG posted the answer
And I assumed it was a C for hundred, just didn't get intended = fiance

I got the "INSIGNI" and "C", then "INSIGNIFICANCE" popped up, so I worked backwards to get "FIANCE" from the remaining letters.

More often than not, as soon as I click on the code file to edit, it prompts the message that the operation is taking longer than expected.

I wasn't impressed with 2017, it just had too much that was flaky when I first installed it - that's why I stuck to 2013 for so long. But ... I have to say than 2019 has (in my experience so far) been pretty good; I've had no problems.
Might be worth upgrading?

Yeah, VS2019 is better and faster (IMO). I have it on my personal workstation and been loving it. But in the office, I need a much stronger reason than I'm annoyed for them to upgrade.
Maybe I'm just spoiled.

Business case: how much does it cost to upgrade? How much is your time worth in sorting out when it crashes?
If B is greater than A (and it probably is) then there is the justification.

The hard part.
Why do you want the newer version when everyone else is working on the same version as you without any problems.
A is probably much higher than B. The version of a software is often collectively upgraded for everyone working on the project.
As for me, I just switched to VS code to finish my work. Hopefully, there won't much need to debug.

Thanks, I'll need that, looks like I am going to be using VS code for the rest of the project.

hmmm, maybe this weekend I'll try it out.
client sites 13 still way plenty ample for the work (and let's face it, way easier to set up when presented a new box to work on),
but using 17 at home [where the real work is done].
was actually considering dropping home back to 13 because 17 wasn't giving me anything better (in fact hell of a lot more annoying with, for instance refactoring suggestions when I'm still only half done in a new class).
home dev all dome in vm's so rolling back/out a new machine is not an issue - way less work than uninstalling then reinstalling.

How much memory does your PC have? Have you looked in the Task Manager to see what your memory usage is like? Are you running Resharper or any other VS extension / plugin / tool?
