It's called landgångsbröd.
It's basically a toast bread cut the wrong direction.

I opened the link and was seriously misled. At first glance the images all looked like cake. Reading the description... "Sandwich cake/torte" So far so good. a savory cake that is similar to a sandwich ... Okay a bit weird but I've had desserts that were not sweet, so we're still rolling. With large amounts of filling and garnish, similar to a layered cream cake. Hmm, all that stuck out was 'similar to a layered cream cake'.Made up of several layers of white or light rye bread with creamy fillings in between. Well, I grew up in the south and had a few deserts made with white (Wonder) bread. The fillings and toppings vary, but egg and mayonnaise are often the base. Wait... WHAT!?! Then I actually take a closer look at the images... And suddenly I wish CodeProject had a puke emoji because the unwell one just isn't enough.

Ah, but they also have Kæstur hákarl[^] which is technically a weapon of mass destruction.

Iceland doesn't have anything to do with neither Denmark nor Sweden... They keep to themselves in the middle of the Atlantic. No wonder they're weird!
Actually, they're closer to you in Wales than to me...

Sorry, my brain was probably addled by the smell decades ago: I meant Surströmming[^] which isn't a lot better an idea for food!

Nope. I agree. You just let me know if you want me to send you a can... I'm sure it's hard to come by in Wales...

When I studied at the Uni I had an English neighbour that actually liked surströmming.
He was actually a bit strange in a few other ways as well.
When he left Sweden he brought a couple of tins with him back to the UK.
And from the airport he boarded the train home.
This was in the middle of a heat wave in June.
Those tins couldn't take the heat and started leaking inside his bag.
He ended up alone in his wagon, and had to throw away everything in the bag. That smell doesn't go out with washing.

Similar, but not quite as smelly: Rollmops[^]Here it is often served for breakfast when you have a hangover.

Cats might actually like it. They love fish, especially if it has some aroma.

Don't forget Pölsa[^].
This Wikipedia article claims that it's very similar to lobescoves, which I find is an extremely unreasonable comparison because lobescoves is actually a really delicious dish...

So, I followed your link and looked it up.
"Ammonia Rich Smell" it says.
Honestly, it brings to mind a public bathroom that really really needs a cleaning.
On rethinking this - I've been to Iceland (mostly as a stopover on their airline) and been, thus, 'over it'. From the looks of things, I can understand their eating what would, in any other nations, pass as road-kill. Perhaps it's eaten in hopes it would be lethal and they'd not have to be in Iceland any longer.

I just got a mail from one of our project leaders: Our customer is wondering what this message from your code in their Windows logs means:
"ERROR: Uh-uh, this is no good!"
Turns out I had put in a null check for an object that should NEVER, EVER be null, and SOMEHOW it had managed to achieve it anyway...
Now I have to change the error message to something meaningful. I HATE that!

At least you checked.
I'd rather have "Uh-uh" than "This application has encountered a problem and needs to close ...", particularly if I'd done a load of typing...

I have just such a case right now. It looks like Powerpoint (of all useless things) crashes and takes the WinForms program that started Powerpoint to view a document with it. The error happens in the black Win32 heart of the WinForms, in the main form's window procedure. Even if I catch the resulting exception, the program will still exit it's Main(9 and terminate.
Now, what shall we write into the error message?
How about this: Quote: Dear user, Powerpoint just committed ritual suicide and took our program with it. This is of course your problem, as you foolishly assumed that Mickeysoft can get anything right. If you still wish to complain about the problem, bug Mickeysoft with it and not us.
