Yeah I know this is predominantly MS. But I'm moving all of my development platforms to VMware workstation - part of that is a High Sierra MAC os vm.
So the other day I was sitting there and decided to upgrade to VMware 14.1.6 and it broke my MAC vm - perpetual reboot cycle, logs useless. Good thing I didn't upgrade to my Workstation 15 license.... all licensed and paid for code, no cracks here.
If you've got any scars or other sage advice, I'm all ears - I need that mac os back. And I'm paying hard cash - ammo to JSOP or Meguier's for your dash on that beast, beer to Maunder, gin, hell, I don't care, etc. You get the picture.
Send me an email...
Here's the deal: vmware's logging is VERBOSE very meaningful to someone with the vm source code in front of him - maybe. 4k lines of log, and I don't see what Workstation is unhappy about...
I have posts out to vmware community forums and "insanelymac" or something like it. I'm betting on CP's crazies - come on, I know you are out there. This is likely some vmware bs, but I need that VM back.

Will be hard to find help on running Mac VM on Workstation (Windows) since it violates the Mac EULA (says for Mac hardware only).

I knew someone would chime in I have a mac mini sitting on my desk that collects dust. I justify my pirate ways that I don't' turn both on at the same time. Maybe not the letter of the law....
fwiw, I'd say Apple's EULA is widely disregarded, and I'm probably understating it.

The most amusing thing about this thread is that it passed moderation. You are essentially asking for support for your pirated versions of both Apple High Sierra MAC and your hacked version of VMWare/Dell workstation.
Your VMWare is broken because in order to make it run High Sierra some of the binaries in your VMWare folder had to be patched. If you are wondering why I know this... it's because I analyzed the 'hack' installer a few years ago checking for malware. I did not find any malware but it does patch some of the binaries in the VMWare installation folder.

based on the last few years of dumb-ass decisions coming from them, I'd suggest they have a high probability of wiping us all out accidentally with some sort of malignant AI release
Seriously though, have you ever read some of the responses from Microsoft people on answers.microsoft.com? I'm convinced the server has an auto reply feature for suggesting some of the dumbest stuff.

If they can't get the real thing, they might as well create it artificially.

I was sick of hearing C level execs using this word and thinking I knew what it meant, so I double checked its definition.
I then realised that I had not known what the word meant - "the interaction or cooperation of two or more organizations, substances, or other agents to produce a combined effect greater than the sum of their separate effects."
I also then realised that the definition of the word 'synergy' breaks the first law of thermodynamics.
So people who use this word are either geniuses or uneducated in science and don't understand the basic principles of physics.

You are incorrect.
The laws of thermodynamics were stuffed up when they created the story of Goldilocks and the 3 bears.
Big Daddy bear's porridge was too hot.
Mummy bear's porridge was to cold.
OK I can accept that.
However the little bowl with Baby bear's porridge was just right.
What nonsense.
I refused to tell my children that version of the story.
Refused to because of the laws of thermodynamics.
So my sentiments are with you completely.
However synergy is different.
It isn't about energy but about interactions and outcomes.
Sometimes quite complex interactions.
This is how i became interested in regression analysis.
Trying to think of an example....
Like how were one drug has this quantifiable effect and another has this quantifiable effect and the placebo has this quantifiable effect.
However if the two drugs are combined in a 4th group, and the effect is far greater than either of them alone, then that is synergy.
It is like an anti gestalt in a way, where normally the parts are greater than the whole, but in this case the whole is greater than the parts.
It is around us everywhere.
The laws of thermodynamics still stand.
Synergy is real and doesn't threaten any laws of physics at all.
However it is used as a buzzword and that is annoying as well.
Just saying.......
