Samsung reveals Galaxy Fold and S10 5G - BBC News[^]
Will I be buying one? No - I'm happy with my old fashioned Moto G - especially at the price...
$1,980 (£1,515)
Ouch. I don't think they will sell too many...

I think it's safe to say that IDGAF until it's become "normal" tech, in that it costs a fiftieth of the comparative cr@p they're outputting now.
And I never got into apple kit. No idea why.

Early adopters are valuable, indeed.
I love the idea of a folding phone. I could use the bigger real-estate.
You now replace my kindle!
I can actually RDP and do something.
And honestly, for that price, if it replaces a small portable laptop, and a kindle, and I carry it as a phone, and the folding screen helps prevent it from breaking, but I can answer it without opening it...
I am interested in it. YET, I am NOT an early adopter. I keep my cell phones until they die. I did have a Palm device and a Treo! My latest samsung S5 has a broken power button, and I use software to turn it off... I think it has another 2-3 years in it.
By then, I will be in the market for a potential flip screen, and they should have the bugs worked out.
My bigger concern is the wear factor. This feels like something (Like Pergo Floors) that look great until 10 years later and the wear becomes excessive. In this case, it may only have a 2-3 year lifespan, and at that rate... Not interested. My laptop is 6 years old, going on 7. 32GB, dual SSD icore7. No need to upgrade. Buy big, and keep it a long time. Or by cheap and buy often!

Guess you value essential freedom over "safety".

Don't worry, they sell plenty of them.
Some people will pay anything for the latest fashion accessory.
And as a bonus it might even do something, rather than be a "look at me" device.

Slap an Apple logo on it, and they will. At any price.

and in a year or so ... "your phone only folds once???" says the tech "genius" that paid $3980 for the dual-fold... and 1 year after that
and 5 years from now there's going to be separate insurance required for phones.... getting a bit much to include under home contents.

I really dislike gimmicks. Be it foldable phones (what is the purpose?) or self-lacing sneakers.
