Hi All,
Feel the need to release bile. There has been a security update. 'SECURITY' the end result is I had to use my personal mobile (I don't have a company one) to down load the Microsoft Authentication App and run it to be allowed to get in to my email (Outlook) I then had to use it again to open Word is wrong! If I have to use it for every M$ App I will not be doing much. To start to empty my bile ducts I sent a very blunt email to the Head of Corperate security, think it would land on his get caught by his fire wall...One of help desk people was on the phone to him and I was mentioned by name as having written a blunt email (I did remove the 'Elephant you and horse you rode in on'), might be looking for a new job on Monday!

Don't forget to include the invoice for the new fully loaded phone you're buying for work and its service plan on todays expense report, or all the hours you spend farting around with security theater instead of working as a separate line item on your time sheet.
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, weighing all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?

I doubt he got it. After all, he has to use the MAA to open his Outlook email too. And probably for each email!

Well I am told mine was respectful & very blunt. Tomorrow as hols, turn up Monday, Jobcenter - Tuesday Well I am defended by my Line Manager who in her Email pointed out I had more experience of security (MOD) than anyone else and while I was finding it awkward/unmanageable something really needed to done.

At least you have the support of your manager, I don't even have that.
To be honest I find its best to just keep my head down between the hours of 8am-4pm weekdays and accept the bank balance increase once a month. But perhaps that's just me.

I'd have just said that I don't have a smartphone (I actually have four), so I will no longer be available by e-mail.

Two former employers tried something like that too.
Luckily, I was the only person without a company phone (exactly for this reason) so I told them I'd no longer be using my phone for work related stuff.
The first company decided it wasn't worth it and I never heard from the new security measures again and for the second company I actually ended up deleting my mails from my phone

The worst thing is...'Most' users are remote with company phones & laptops. We are different we have desktops and a Lan, so WHY????

GPS location in company phone is prohibited / restricted, but hey... we are moving our whole Email traffic to office 365

If something has a solution... Why do we have to worry about?. If it has no solution... For what reason do we have to worry about?
Help me to understand what I'm saying, and I'll explain it better to you

Security starts by making certain that unauthorized users cannot access the system. It ends by making certain that no users can access the system

That post is out of date I think. I just looked for VS Code and it is in "C:\Program Files\Microsoft VS Code" on my system.

Yeah, it was the first thing I could fine, and I probably should not have posted the link.
Point being, I am sure the OP is not setting VSCode up correctly to be default, OR, it simply cannot be done, when other versions of VS are on the machine.

I am pretty sure you can set any program to be the default. However, Visual Studio sets itself as default on installation. As you say, OP is probably doing something wrong.

Question, what is VS Code good for if you have a full VS IDE to use? What do you use it for, that VS 2017 can't do?
Just curious.

it starts super fast.
ideal for perusing random code file.
beside that it supports host of other languages, like Google Go or D.

Just got here. And, well, OK, yes, but that's not the direction I plan to take.

Does that mean you converted to the IDE-direction?
