And at sometimes it is really convenient, you can work on a problem in different time zones, so that you have 24h coverage.
We (east-coast) have teams in Europe and many times I have asked questions during the day and I know that when I will come back in the morning, those questions will be answered (and vice-versa).

(Intended as a satirical view of managers who just don't get it.)
Manager: I need you to train this dog.
Developer: Sure, we train dogs all the time. It'll take a month.
Manager: I need this dog trained by the end of the week.
Developer: We can't have that dog trained by the end of the week; it takes a month to train a dog.
Manager: OK, then have this wolf trained by the end of the week for the interim, and train the dog next month.

And while you're at it, make sure you train the wolf to meow like a cat.

No no no, no time to train me to do that. Not even with a "Dummies' Guide to Diapering Dogs" and a long weekend.

Do you know of any legal way to get it?

I don't think so. The software is out in the wild, but I would be careful with any of the sites that are offering this.
Question, is there a reason you need this old version? Updating to the new version is not going to work for you?
Edit: If you can, get them on Windows 7, then slowly migrate them to Windows 10 when you can, if the app(s) will let you. Windows 7 end of life (extended) is sometime in 2020, I think.

Works fine for me. I use it professionally 8-10 hours a day, 5-6 days a week. Same goes for the latest version of VS2017.

Hi Slacker007!
Well, old industrial PC with old software that works using hardware IO cards that work using the old IO/driver system...
Anything newer won't work without a huge update...
And considering the customer doesn't has the source code of the applications that run there...
Definitely it is out of consideration upgrading that.

do you guys get paid to always answer like this when someone is asking for a software your boss does not prefer?
Edit: no! you can, get on windows 7, then slowly migrate to windows 10 when you can, if the app(s) will let you. windows 7 end of life is totally irrelevant to someone who wants win2k, i think.

The start of the year actually, mainstream versions only get the first patch Tuesday of the year (January 14, 2020). Enterprise versions can have 3 more years of increasingly expensive (was hundreds/pc/year for XP) paid patching. Embedded versions have their own longer support life cycles based on when they were released but generally in the mid 2020's. For a really scary thought the last embedded XP versions still have a few months of support left.

that is a great idea if MS still has it as an offering with MSDN.
Edit: just checked my msdn subscription and I did not see it listed.
