You make up for that with perfect nagging techniques.

May be because Netherlands is not in North America.

I still don't get it, because Netherlands has never been in North America.

What about Nederland, CO? They probably have mushrooms.

After a few 'shrooms, anything could be anywhere.

Do you have any idea how hard it is for a fungus to get a passport?

As others already guessed, this type of mushroom is not common in the Netherlands, in fact it was the first time I saw one !

Actually fungi species abound in Australia. It is mainly because of Australia's particular cultural origins that these have not been exploited as food by settlers but it is beginning to happen. If you Google the subject you may be surprised. e.g mushroaming – Australian edible mushrooms[^]. People often speculate about what we may be eating if Australia had been settled by the French. Of course Indigenous Australians know about edible fungi.

I wondered if that would slip through without comment and admit it is quite incorrect. I should have written "Australia's biota is replete with species of fungi." but it sounded prosaic. I have edited my comments.

It must be a different Australia than where I live in, because I just finished an unconscionably large bowl of Pasta Funghi.

No no, as a law abiding citizen I leave the things in the forest alone
But if I remember well there are people that grow these mushrooms for consumption, saw that in the television programme "BinnensteBuiten" if I am not mistaken ...
