If something has a solution... Why do we have to worry about?. If it has no solution... For what reason do we have to worry about?
Help me to understand what I'm saying, and I'll explain it better to you

Can you believe I used to have an inferiority complex?
Yes - I actually thought there were people as good as me!

Many years ago, I was accused of being technically arrogant. When I pointed out to my accuser that the word "arrogant" implied a sense of superiority not justified by reality, he immediately withdrew the comment. It turned out that the term he was looking for was "overqualified."
Will Rogers never met me.

A week or two ago, I was trying to record some 1280 x 720 video on my (mid-spec pocket type) camera, and it got badly broken up.
When I got home, I grabbed the SDHC/SDXC cards I could find, all marked C10 and benchmarked them as follows:
(MB/s) Read avg Write avg Write min
Noname 16GB 35.3 10.2 6.6
House brand 32GB 20.6 7.4 3.0
Big name brand 32GB 35.6 22.3 21.9
2nd tier brand 32GB 35.4 16.8 6.2
House brand 64GB 35.7 6.2 4.0
No prizes for guessing
(a) which one was in the camera
(b) which one is now in the camera
So, as I had suspected, not all "Class 10" SD cards have real class.
Now to find something worth videoing...
Cheers,
Peter

Very interesting, did you use some kind of benchmarking program ?

Gnome-disks, just because it's there on my primary laptop (Ubuntu 16.04LTS). It's a bit of a swiss army knife for disks.

As an alternative, you can run Ubuntu (and I'm sure many other distros) from a USB stick. Leaves no trace when you're done. (Just don't select "Install" )

I use Lan_SpeedTest for such testing. Rudimentary, but works on windows.
Helps me to validate my USB3 is working or not (sad to say major driver/chipset issues after swapping hard-drives into a cold spare that was NOT identical).

Wow, the other manufactures are marketing the 'Big name brand 32GB' as V90.

Do you think the benchmarks on your computer apply to using the cards in the camera? Wouldn’t put it past some camera manufacturers to optimize their camera for their own SD cards.
|
|
|
|

AFAIK the camera manufacturer does not supply branded SD cards. Although I wouldn't expect the numbers to be exactly the same, I am pretty sure the general ranking would be similar in different devices.
