You havent exactly described the actual risk so it of course hard to have an opinion on that. But if this is a released [to the market] product it must have undergone some sort of official electrical/mechanical certification (CE or whatnot). What happens when a certified product blows up? I daresay it is a matter of law, not opinion.
And if you havent undergone certification it should get stuck there. With huge costs to fix it later and re-certify it.

I'm guessing the previous company sold it on as a CE product, which it can't be. I have launched a this will get someone jail time & it's not going to be me , campaign. It's due for replacement by the widget I am working on and a temporary fudge has been accepted until the replacement is ready.

So the company is "risk-averse" and willing to sell a product with a false/nonexistent CE cert? How does that add up?

No, No, Gawd No, I was taken on as part of a restructure carried out after company A was bought by company B. Company A was shall we say a really good ideas place, implementation not so much. CE was viewed as a little too much as the units sold were for industry use, now with new ownership comes fresh eyes (with Gasps and Clutching of Pearls)...

So in moderation the morning comes a question - that take 5 minutes to load in the mod queue, and times out CP several times trying to get there. It's not spam, it's - perhaps - not abuse: it's 5.7MB of rows from somebodies database, without an explanation I can see at all; no question, no code, just row after row of DB - 16,700 rows of it.
But ... it's not spam, so I let it through and then go to edit it and remove the huge pile of steaming donkey turds we've had dumped on us so it loads in a reasonable time.
It's been loading in the editor for half an hour now, and it's still trying...
Oh fer Elephants sake - he's added part 2 and look like it's just as bad... that does it: abuse.

There's a command that does a more complete job: rm -rf /

EXECUTE master.sys.sp_MSforeachdb 'DROP DATABASE [?];'

Erm...wouldn't that lead to firing if OP was governed by some kind of agreement at work place? I don't think OP can process that given the way he is posting the questions.

I think it's your fault - you do keep telling people to back up their stuff regularly.
Expect one new part for each table in his database. Then another for each view or stored procedure. Then hope that his next attempt to back up his database to QA is an incremental backup, and not a complete dump of the full data again.
