Pretty much all of my system are stopped at 56 because the changed the interface for the plugins. As a result, one of my favorite (non-passive, like an ad blocker) is FireFTP. The author decided not to modify it to their new methodology. I could use any of lots of other FTP clients, but this is so handy.
As an FYI for browser-dom candidates. I hung with seamonkey for years, until they made cookie-handling an absolute nightmare. Here are references to very-compatible options[^]

I waited until version 58 to upgrade. To my surprise, my few plugins had all been updated. Don't notice any difference, except no more nag.

Yep, but on a scale going from "no hassle ever" to "Java/Adobe level", Firefox has still a very good position.

I just realized - with the amazing powers and abilities of their ubiquitous search engine and all the plugins so eagerly snatched up by web-(designers/developers) that Google will be able to make it turn up on webish things that 'ogle' is the new 'd'.

I certainly understand where you're coming from - and the parentage clearly point in that way. However, at present, Bing hardly makes its way to the second circle of hell. Essentially, it is because no one would notice much or for long if it just went away.

I use Google for work (really don't care about them tracking searches about techie stuff) and DuckDuckGo for real life.
Bing? Still searching for a reason on that one!

My old websites, KeepVid & SaveFrom, don't seem to work anymore, with YouTube at least.

I've found that browser plugins always leave you wanting in some way, so I'm using this application:

Technically, it's against YouTube T&C's - which is why they stop working, I assume - so asking for a replacement on a site for professional developers is probably malicious behaviour ...

I used to use it as well, but it doesn't seem to work for me anymore.
