I spent the last two days in bed and today nobody would expect me to show up for work. If my appetite (or sense of taste) has already returned, I might even leave the house and buy something to eat for tomorrow.
I have lived with several Zen masters - all of them were cats.
His last invention was an evil Lasagna. It didn't kill anyone, and it actually tasted pretty good.

Don't worry - I'm a big fan of the "Typhoid Mary" school of Office Sickness: Keep the Elephant away from everyone else until you aren't infectious.
Herself works in an old folks home, and has to be interviewed to return to work after sickness - minimum 48 hours clear for diarrhea for example, and three days for a cold. I've known a couple of Contract Packers who won't even let service engineers in the building with a sniffle!

Besides all that, I read what you recently wrote in that survey about constant stress and the consequences. The 'complex finely detailed hobbies' are my way of dealing with that. On days like this they give me something better to do than brood over what has happened.

We thought they'd never end
We'd sing and dance forever and a day
We'd live the life we choose
We'd fight and never lose
For we were young and sure to have our way

Me too! A little more than a year before that magazine, as a senior in college, I remember being awed by the power of what I believe was a 486-30 MHz as it crunched numbers for Finite Element Analysis of a piston head deflection model. Whoot whoot! The speed! (Hours.... Now, would take seconds at most.)

does that mean the engines now also run ["hours" -> "seconds"] 3600 times faster?
... go out and smoke a Varon - that'd be some whoot whoot.
