Well I didn't get it!
(Was that OK pretending-it's-difficult, I'm not very good at that)

I'm sure I wouldn't have either! "Carapace" isn't a word I'd come across before - only saw it in some article somewhere a couple of days ago and had to look it up (and it was being used quite inappropriately - something about a character in novel "shedding her carapace" - just the author trying to sound clever...)

I have - though I don't use it in "normal conversation".
It took me probably about as long as it took Pompey - once I had "Car" teh rest was obvious.
Good clue though - it worked!

We suffered a lot from "Sales driven behaviour" in the past, luckily things have changed for the better now
BTW it seems I was wrong about NHibernate performance being low, in a more recent test NHibernate really shines DotNet Core vs. NHibernate vs. Dapper Smackdown! | Frank DeCaire[^]
Correction: Jorgen Andersson, who is a database developer, looked into it and inspected the test code, turns out this test is garbage

Just thought you had seen my post 'To ORM or not to ORM' and that it might be interest to you
Well, the latest news is that management has decided to try NHibernate and see how far we get with it, not my choice of course ...

So, you're trying to say it hibernates really efficiently.

So from time to time I'll install something on my Windows 10 laptop, and with the latest update I am now warned that this program (wait, need to go check it): "The app you're trying to install isn't a verified app from the store."
I think to myself, okay, MS trying to warn me. Then I slap myself, no, they just want me to go to the store.
So, today I need to install the Windows 10 SDK. Guess what isn't verified? Oh Microsoft you so funny.

Hadn't heard of that before.
"Only install apps from the store" - that's a little limiting, isn't it? I mean - one of the reasons windows phone died a death (it is dead, isn't it?) was that there were only about six apps on the store, and 4 of them were bad "flappy-bird" clones ...

You can only install iPhone apps from the AppStore. I reckon it's doing alright

Not really, except for Apple of course. You, as a customer/developer pay for nothing, The application store should have been a safe-place to install applications from and you (as developer and as customer) pay for it to be so, but in reality there is no compensation for the fee...
Skipper: We'll fix it.
Alex: Fix it? How you gonna fix this?
Skipper: Grit, spit and a whole lotta duct tape.

for damn sure.
So now I need to download the vs 2015 community addition to a remote server. Perfectly legit, I'm a small business, etc. Where the hell is Marc Clifton when you need him!!!? I've logged into my account and the fog has descended. I have VS2015. Microsoft, your project migration SUCKS, and I'm being generous. I don't want 2017.
I swear, if there was ever, ever a reason for high capacity whatevers... ffs

and the cherry on top - so I finally find the 2015 download.. it plods along for 4+ hours (really?), and when it is done - it's a dev environment, compiler, linker... it needs to reboot the server to complete installation? really?
