Well, if I were the patent holder, anyway.
So, yeah, I'm the Inventor (1 of 2) that filed this concept first before others.
But, this invention isn't *the* foundational patent upon which all those apps which enable you to buy stuff on that dumbarse phones and tablets; but danged close enuff!

Don't worry, I was compensated at the qualified rate: a t-shirt, $100 after taxes (Invention Disclosure), and FREAKIN' poverty the rest of my life.

An other example how the current patent system created to abusement and not to protection...

What a crock!
Buying stuff and paying for it (ie. trade) is fundamental to human civilization and has been for many thousands of years.
Since when is doing it on a smart phone app so different as to warrant a patent?

Gee, post something marked as 'joke' and the crowd goes political freak-a-zoid.
(Not that I don't agree with them on the over-patent abuse.
Then, again, I don't see any of them with patents. )

Took me a few moments to see the joke icon and until that I was wondering what the heck you were going on about... then again the coffee still hasn't kicked in.

MacSpudster wrote: Gee, post something marked as 'joke' and the crowd goes political freak-a-zoid. The news of Google patenting something that is already widely available in different formats is not suddenly funny simply because you chose the joke-icon. The news itself causes a predictable reaction.
Now, next time you try a joke, go for the format "an X, Y and Z walk into a bar."
MacSpudster wrote: Then, again, I don't see any of them with patents. Even in the case that I could file a non-abusive patent, I would opt for the public domain and a CP-like license. Also do not need to file a patent to have an opinion on the patents that Google files.

I saw you are interesting in the BPC mystery...
We are working with HP in connection of QA and support (there is some connection to ISO 9xxx)... So, they installed some HP tool on all computers (all HP) and that installation created a machine level environment entry named 'Platform' with the value 'BPC' (no idea what it is)...
Now it is - of course - totally undocumented, but MSBuild will look for that variable if none defined on any higher level (command-line or project file of any kind)...
I'm no QA or support so dumped the HP tool...
