I do believe you - I posted a rant about this very thing about a month ago... incredible that in this day and age they can produce an app with such poor accessibility standards. I suspect it's brought about by their push towards a universal OS - I just wish Microsoft would give up on the mobile market (that ship sailed years ago, and they missed it) and concentrate on the desktop one, and focus Windows towards that.

The new Skype on Desktop, Mac and Linux and Skype for Windows 10 both have different interface compared to the classic Skype for Windows desktop client.
Some features and settings may not be available as of the moment but our developers are working hard to improve user experience. They take user feedback and suggestion into account when releasing updates as they help in shaping the application experience. One good example of a feature not available at launch is the Online status. After we collated feedback and suggestions, our developers re-introduced this feature on the later updates.
Rest assured that we are taking notes of suggestions and feedback we get from the Community.

Nice to know, thanks for the reply. One thing you must surely have learnt (with regards any software) is that users do not like change, unless there is a very good reason for it. So many software updates seem to me to be developer-led. As a developer it's easy to keep tweaking things, thinking "Ooh, cool.. we could make it do this... and that...!" but to the user it's just change for change's sake. Personally, for example, I think Word 2007 was the best ever, and quite adequate for 99.9% of users (save perhaps for some team/sharing functions) and all updates since then have been nothing but a pain in the derriere. (Don't even get me started on the Ribbon.... ) Similarly, Skype, prior to this latest update, works just fine - I personally neither need nor want any further updates.
