Either Microsoft have accelerated the roll-out, or my computer passed some secret test; either way, the "Fall Creators Update" appeared on my updates last night, rather than hiding for the usual 4-6 months after release.
The update process has definitely changed. It spent just over an hour downloading and preparing, during which time the computer was usable, albeit slightly sluggish. After clicking the button to restart, it took almost exactly 30 minutes to update, and then another two minutes for the annoying "Hi, we've got some updates, blah, blah..." nonsense. Previous updates did less work up-front, and spent longer rebooting, so that's an improvement.
There only seem to have been two casualties on the "not compatible" front: EMET, which is now baked into Windows Defender; and the Cisco VPN client.
The "Sync your settings" option now seems to be borked - "Sync is not available for your account. Contact your system administrator to resolve this." Who's the system administrator for a Microsoft account on a non-domain-joined PC again?
Oh, and the new "emoji input panel" (Win + .) only works if your computer is set to US-English with a US keyboard layout.
Other than that, everything seems to be working.

My experience with the Fall Update was really bad. After the lengthy update, none of the Microsoft apps worked. Clicking on the lower left corner for Startup - or whatever they call it, did nothing. I could not even restart or turn off. Clicking on any MS item, like the shortcuts I had for the calculator, MS Office and the weather app, produced an ominous message: "System call failed!". All non-Microsoft apps seemed to work.
So I started trusty ole Macrium Reflect and restored an earlier image to get rid of the Fall Update. That restored functionality to what it was before the update. Fall Update? All I can say is: "Yuck!"
Get me coffee and no one gets hurt!

The Fall Update performed well over the expectations: It updated, it fell. 100% success rate.

I started the install on my home computer last night, I rebooted it before leaving this morning.
I've not look at what worked or not yet. I only game and sometimes lightroom on my home PC, it's not a big deal breaker if I need to wait for some updates to fix things up.
I will not touch my work PC for a while; and I do not have enough disk space to really install anything on it.
I'd rather be phishing!

The only real problem I've encountered so far is that no matter what settings I pick, Rufus won't make a bootable USB stick out of the ISO - I've had 3 systems simply show a blinking cursor when trying to boot off of it (all systems I know can successfully boot off of other USB sticks I've created in the past). I can, however, start the setup.exe from that same USB stick and get the upgrade process started through that.
I've successfully burned a bootable DVD (and then did a full install) from the same ISO.
I haven't yet tried to use MS's own media creation tool.

So you try to be a nice developer, try to be as transparent on your tasks as possible and hand guest access to your YouTrack... They can only view and check back what's happening.
Then there is this one guy, Project Manager of course, that is totally misunderstanding the purpose of your kindnes.
So now he want's access to the System, wants to be able to write Tickets, edit them and check who else writes tickets... Why??? you think and deny the request...
The next day you get a mail: Request from XXX :"Why can't i see this?"
You ask kindly what he wants to state with that.
You can guess the reply...
"That's why i need that system, if i send a request i want to be able to edit it and check it back"
R.I.P. to my Software plannings...

(A) You are blind as a mole. Get some glasses.
(B) You are the customer's project manager, not mine.
(C) Those who speak don't know, those who know don't speak.
(D) Are you authorized for at least Universal Top Secret? Otherwise we would have to shoot you.
(E) Why should you?
(F) Because we enjoy seeing you squiggle like a fish on the hook.

misunderstood PM role: it's the PM's right to use any metrics available, you've shown him something that measures project performance and then [wrongly] denied him access to it.
misunderstood your role: you've made more work for dev team, if you're the TL you've let down your whole team by this, if you're not the TL even worse: you've overstepped your bounds and possibly put your entire deliverable at risk.
Probably get away with it, unless your PM is the strict by the book (humourless) type.

Fun fact: i am PM and TL of my team since we are only 3 people in SW development. The PM i am talking of is just one of the users of the software we develop.
