Sure, as long as it doesn't smell like a bacon, flatus, and tomato sandwich.

As long as the ruler isn't "duct taped / duck-typed", the tick marks don't randomly change spacing, and there are clearly designated numeric units (that also don't change value), and it stays a ruler and doesn't disguise itself as a rectal probe, I don't if it's metric or Vulcan.

Actually, I thought a programmer was someone who got paid for pointing out that you split an infinitive.
A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, navigate a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Last Thursday, my wife and I took our daughter to a store for me to get new shoes. They were worn beyond repair. Afterward, we decided to get something to eat because of the time.
While eating, my wife asked our daughter what she wanted for her 12th birthday, at the time, less than a week away. She replied, "Shoes." When we asked her why she didn't get some while at the shoe store, her reply humbled us. "They're for the kids that don't have them."
Let that sink in.. from an 11 year old, wanting shoes for kids that don't have them...
My wife mentioned it on social media and our friends responded. So far, she has somewhere around 40 pairs to shoes to give away (not sure of the exact count because I received a text message this morning saying more had been left in a bag for us, but I haven't got to the bag yet.)
And, last night, she received a check from her mother's cousin for her birthday - she wants the money to be used for shipping the shoes as needed.

Nice to know there's hope for the next generation. And you and your wife definitely deserve kudos for how you're raising your daughter.

Funny isnt it, how moralistic kids can be.
Back in primary school my daughter was about 8, and her groups friends decided one of them wasnt welcome in the group that day. My daughter said "well if she isnt, I am not either" and went off and played with the excluded girl.
Such consideration, such maturity from one so young, it really makes you think.

If more kids had the same ideals the world would be a lot better place.

Your daughter may be only 11, but she has the wisdom of Solomon and a heart of gold to boot. And clearly parents who've instilled a good set of values in her. You are a blessed family.
