Just realized that I've crossed the 2000 answers on QA...
While it is clearly not that much - there are others with tens of thousands - I still going to grab an other can of cold soda

I noticed much the same. Alas, the questions are posted, for the most part, in local time working hours. As such, the Euro's get first crack at them. They leave us behind the dregs.
Occasionally, an exception, but buy and large, all the good stuff's been taken.

There are some smart peeps on here, so any L.A. vets have tips to shortening commute time? I live in the valley and considering a job in Culver City. So I don't spend all day on the road, sucking the life out of me, I figure the best way to avoid traffic is to find a way to start my day besides the proverbial 9AM. As in, if I'm gonna work out, get in close proximity to the job for around 7AM, workout then go to work to avoid the blunt of it.
Any tips I'm missing?

Wherever you go, it'll take you around an hour each way (give or take) in heavy traffic. You have to fight the 101 and the 405. As I recall, you're in the east valley so 101 west, 405 south. No way around it from the Valley to Culver City. I used to work in Century City and left around 615 to get there for 7am. You can try some of the canyon roads - Benedict Canyon is about the best to get over the hill. Don't go Laurel Canyon! The other route is Sepulveda - if you get lucky the 405 is packed and that is empty and then you can use surface streets to get to Culver City; once you cross Santa Monica it gets easier.
My advice: if you live in the valley, work in the valley.

Thanks for the valuable input as usual man. And I totally agree with you in the stay in the valley part to help with traffic. The reason I'm considering it though is the people at this company so far seem awesome. And they're going to open up a DTLA location in the future that I can get to fairly quickly from where I'm at. I just gotta deal with the commute thing for the first year or so.

I feel you pain. My friend used to drive from Marina del Rey to Irvine every day - 2 hours each way.
But, yes, the 405 is bloody awful.

If/when the crazies on both sides go from screaming at each other to actually starting the civil war they're trying to egg each other into firing the first shot of; someone's going to start blowing up all the big water pipelines/aqueducts leading into the big coastal cities. Dehydration doesn't care about party lines.
