Water? Not milk, or is it one those mixes with milk powder in it?
I like my morning cereal with milk, cold milk - if it's been out of the fridge more than 10 seconds it's too warm and I switch to toast.
Coffee: strong, black, no sugar, no nothing (incl. whiskey etc) - coffee must never be mixed with anything (except a little water) - if you don't like that taste, time to grow up.

I've always agreed with you. I learned I like 'medium' roasts. I have a friend who blends and roasts his own coffee and believes dark roast ruins the coffee.
I also have a family member that likes dark roasts. He also drinks a lot of milk products in his coffee. After a brief experiment, I realized the milk is to make the ruined coffee palatable.

Coffee was directly from a coffee urn.
Overall, the taste seemed to get better as I ate it. No so much on further equilibration, but like eating spicy food. One adapts to the perceived heat and it tastes ever better as it's scarfed down.

Charles Maurice de Talleyrand-Périgord said of coffee: Black as the devil, hot as hell, pure as an angel, sweet as love.
Frankly, I prefer his view to yours

I eat oatmeal most days (porridge in the UK) most days and have tried it with coffee. Don;t have it with milk any more, just water and honey. As a kid, my dad would make it fresh and we'd have it with salt or thick cream or carnation milk - I still like the old bowl of cornflakes with a can of carnation milk.

Ingesting Carnation milk, directly, or in beverages? I've only seen it done by comparatively recent immigrants. Over in this part of the world we'd use half&half (or soy equivalent).
I like(d) the stuff in my coffee but drink it black for the last few years. Originally to cut down of saturated fats, but now, I'm so used to it I prefer it.

Oddly, don't like half-n-half and drink coffee black but have tea with a splash of milk. Apart from the odd indulgence no longer consume dairy or, at least, very little.

"Book stop used in espionage." (7,7)
The answer is Numbers Station. Numbers station - Wikipedia[^]
Book = Numbers (a book of the Old testament)
Stop = station e.g. a stop on the rail network.

Sorry, I don't get it together.
bookstop - something that collects dust in a shelf
used in espionage - some spyware?
If you had not said (7,7), I would guess 'Windows Ten'

Unfortunately it's not Windows Ten although I see your point!
For the purpose of the clue, book and stop are deliberately two distinct words .

I'm sorry mate but that's a bit too crazy. The "Book" connection is particularly tenuous.
There should be a realistic way to get to the answer if you can make some kind of connection. IMHO there isn't one there. I know this is just a bit of fun, but it's no fun if there isn't a chance.
If I'm wrong I apologise, but Book -> Numbers? Come on, that's not realistic. I can't think of a single person who would make that connection.
Just sayin'...

Really? I thought 'books' was a well known clue for either 'OT' or 'NT' (old or new testament) and therefore book (singular) was a logical extension of that? I've certainly seen books used in several newspaper crosswords.
I'll take your criticism on board though and will make tomorrow's easier, and OG will no doubt solve it in 2 mins .
