Unless you know people who deliberately find literature labeled "produced by fake scientists using voodoo and divine enlightenment"

You do realise a lot of drugs can be beneficial to your work performance?

For a short period, yes.
But after that ...

That can be easily managed with a combination of taking smaller amounts and alcohol.

In the US, way back in the 60's/70's, there were public service commercials created by rock groups, such as Jefferson Airplane, with one message: Speed Kills.
Stones, too, I believe. Airplane introduced w/White Rabbit; Stones with "Mother's Little Helpers"
It was/is known that these were not anti-drug people by any means - and the credibility they added to the message kept me safely away from sallow complexion and yellow eyes.

Yes, especially if you can keep your managers drugged and happy. You can actually get something done while they sit in a corner with an idiotic smile.

Your reply begs an obvious question:
Even without cannabis, there are a very large number of substances available for people to take and alter their perceptions and/or motor skills. Your surgeon could self-administer any one of these before cutting you open. Or maybe he/she just get legally major-drunk the night before and isn't looking or feeling their best when they ask for that scalpel.
WTF? And do you think legal/illegal will make one jot of difference?
Do you really think adding another drug to the mix, happening daily anyway via pharmaceutical research, is going to change anything?
Actually - as one of the few substances that induces self reflection, you may have some of those in your list of abusers, like the police you mention, realize they're business is to serve and protect the people - not beat and abuse them.
The lunacy - from an propaganda war easily a century old - that this is Satan's leaf or some other euphemism - wasn't true to begin with and isn't true now.
It's only real crime? People could grow there own - how will big pharma make any money from it? And it induces contemplation about the human condition, art, music, everything - and perhaps the concept that contemplation is pleasurable - and thus, by creating a thinking population. I realize that's undesirable in many quarters. It's long past due that those powers be told "tough sh*t? Chew harder!"

Don't be daft. Of course, just as alcohol use is legal for airline pilots, but they must be absolutely sober to fly, certain vocations will obviously require either total abstinence from cannabis, or abstinence enough to pass regular pre-work drug checks.
The ruling was that the law making private use illegal was unconstitutional. As soon as your use affects other people, it will surely not legally be considered private, and in the two years awarded the state in which to change the written law, I'm sure such matters will be included in the new and revised legislation.

It'll be an interesting lab experiment for the rest of us (particularly those strongly in favour or against legalising drugs).
If South Africa sees a reduction in crime, and increase in tax revenue, better health (including mental health), safety, security and prosperity then it's probably worth considering legalising it here. If not, then it should finally put the issue to bed.
Now is it bad enough that you let somebody else kick your butts without you trying to do it to each other? Now if we're all talking about the same man, and I think we are... it appears he's got a rather growing collection of our bikes.

From cannabis? Do you have any idea what it does to people? Makes them lazy and causes mental health issues.
If you want to increase GDP and tax revenues legalise cocaine instead!

I completely agree with you, it'll be a disaster in my opinion.. however, many others see the supposed positives..

The punters get what they already get - but more consistently - and government gets revenue instead of criminals. win - win, from what I can see.
Personally, I don't really want my family to grow up in a country full of half-witted junkies.

A few states in the US have legalised it too, waiting for the fall out from that...

I hope you're comfortable. Except for the already huge increases in tax revenue, you're going to wait quite some time to see any other noteworthy fallout.

We will see a reduction in crime but no increase in tax revenue. Only the ban on possession, private cultivation, and private use has been declared unconstitutional. Later on this year we expect some government initiated hearings on legalization for medical use.
This case was one initiated against the government by an individual, i.e. a suit the government lost, but the medical use hearings will be more at the level of organizations petitioning the government, and only if they are successful will the taxable sale of weed become legal.

But, will that be a better way of life than FaceBook ?
«When I consider my brief span of life, swallowed up in an eternity before and after, the little space I fill, and even can see, engulfed in the infinite immensity of spaces of which I am ignorant, and which know me not, I am frightened, and am astonished at being here rather than there; for there is no reason why here rather than there, now rather than then.» Blaise Pascal

I think it is ok to legalize it. Other drugs like alcohol is legal and much more a lot of medicaments are legal because prescribed by a doctor....
There are persons which seems to be creative with drugs like
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vkUpfw4Hf3w
Gary Moore - Still Got The Blues (Live) - YouTube
or also janis Joplin and most probably lot more....
... but more or less only for a short(er) period.
Personally I tried Cannabis several times, I felt only disadvantages.
!!!But on the other hand, a real life Report:
For my wife who had a terrible illness (which she stopped by the decision to stop her life) caused by a virus (Meningitis/Encephalitis what else), cannabis was a really wonderful help for here to facilitate the spastic paralysis.
My two Cents
