Horrified tourists watch swimmers desperately try to save each other from raging Waikato River | Stuff.co.nz[^]
I feel that the title of that article misrepresents the reality of what lead to the tragedy.
A more appropriate title would be: "A group of narcissistic women continue to take selfies in a stream that is fed to by floodgates, in spite of floodgate opening times being posted, warning signs, and SIRENS BLARING; they were washed away to death by the raging waters from the scheduled opening of floodgates".
Selfie with a closeup of raging floodwaters approaching in the background. Who wouldn't want that awesome one?! Umm, no.

With as many people that die from their own stupidity, you could easily have a new Darwin Award winner every hour (assuming there is a news post about it).

I'd subscribe to that RSS feed.
But then I suppose after the first 24 hours it'd get tiresome.

I find that watching people do idiotic things never really gets old and half of the content on YouTube would agree. Recently, I've been watching a lot of accident footage from Russian dash-cams. After watching about 50 or so videos I can say this, I will never get behind the wheel in Russia unless I'm driving an MRAP[^].

I love the way someone's got the video file open in Windows Media Player, and then taken their phone out to film the screen.

My first thought when I read the topic was debugging what I've done wrong when the wife is mad.
Will need better debugging tools for that.

Learned a new phrase today. Protocol Buffers.
Protocol Buffers is a method of serializing structured data. It is useful in developing programs to communicate with each other over a wire or for storing data. The method involves an interface description language that describes the structure of some data and a program that generates source code from that description for generating or parsing a stream of bytes that represents the structured data.
Nice to have a shiny new buzzphrase for an old concept.
