That question is too vague to answer with any real substance. The choice of books you read as a developer would almost certainly be swayed by the path of development you choose.
If it's not broken, fix it until it is.
Everything makes sense in someone's mind.
Ya can't fix stupid.

While it's not in book form, I would recommend the source for .NET itself.
Seriously. If said developer is as senior as claimed, he should easily make sense of it.

CLR via C# by Jeffrey Richter has some great information on the CLR and how it works. If you really want a reading project try to get through the volumes of The Art of Programming by Donald Knuth.

Yeah I saw that! Picking a good host is such a PITA, they are like politicians; they offer you the moon but deliver hell!

I'm on GoDaddy cheap-oh windows right now.
But there are times when it is extremely slow.
I'm looking into changing to Winhost Max Plan right now.
ASP.NET Hosting | Windows Hosting at Winhost[^]
I'm just lazy because of all the blog moving I have to do.
They look good and look like a good price and support everything (and more) you need for good ASP.NET MVC and auto-installed apps like blog engines etc.
Good luck,

I was looking at that also, reviews are decent and the control panel is excellent.
Not the cheapest but I think overall it will work!
Thanks for the feedback

have you checked to see if there is a builpack for .Net on Heroku? I saw a few that were out there but not sure how recent or reliable they are.
If you can go the heroku route I would recommend that.

It may seem silly, but I'd never use a host that uses "4" instead of "for" in their name like that. To me it seems like they couldn't spend the effort to think up a better name, and that effort would most likely extend to the rest of their work as well.

Oh, and I think dreamhost.com is fantastic, although I've only used them for non-vps stuff. However, it's Linux only AFAIK. There's always the cloud... AWS or Azure, but it's not as cheap.

Ended up going with WinHost...so far so good, easy setup and seems fairly quick. Fingers crossed!

4 years later... how has it been, or how was it? I'm looking for a new host now. It still looks like a good pick based on their site vs. others. Tnx.

Still with them, just upgraded to the max option and added an SSL cert.
Had a small problem with setting up the SSL and submitted a ticket, they got back to me within the hour.
I would still highly recommend them!

I am the webmaster for the Bowls Club I belong to. We have had our site hosted on UKHost4U for over 5 years now. It was in its infancy when we first joined, but things are very easy now.
Their Query Desk is very good and very responsive. They have good knowledgeable people who respond quickly. I can update the data tables directly using MS SQL Server Management - very useful when entering the next year's set of matches. It is easy to install code for the website. I can also create different directories to get new code tested by members.
I presume most good sites offer this but as I say, I am very happy with UKHost4U.

You decide the course of action by playing wok, paper, scissors.
