It's not arrogance; it's my opinion. You state your opinions just as strongly.
Unless, of course, you're saying that I'm not entitled to an opinion.
Or maybe I should lie, or be the kind of w@nker who sucks up to everyone by saying what others want to hear, rather than what I think?
Sorry, but none of that washes, with me.
I will state what I think, i.e. that apple mobile devices are of no use to me, because they're just toys for people to browse the Internet, take photos, play games, and maybe -- just maybe -- be used to show work-related docs or web pages to others at work.
That's what they're designed for, and I dare say they do it very well -- but they're still just toys, by comparison to what I need.

"fAndroid devices are cheap plastic junk that won't last more than about a year - assuming of course that malware from sh*tty Chinese app sites doesn't corrupt that embarrassingly un-secure OS before then. They're built for bottom feeders that can't afford decent kit."

As for the rest of your statements... It's a safe statement that the VAST MAJORITY of ALL tablets (iOS, Android, Windows) are used by people to browse the Internet, take photos, play games and maybe show work related docs at work. Sheesh. Tablets (due to form factor, not OS) as a rule just aren't the right tool (yet) to do serious software development. Every dev I know uses a real desktop or laptop and isn't about to switch.
That being said I'm seeing more and more tablets (usually iPads to date) being used in retail POS, medical data logging and other work related functions. With server side apps and data synching tablets are a great choice.

Our needs, as professionals with jobs to do, don't matter.
I somewhat strongly disagree. I work comparative miracles with my android and windows tabs, and can do everything I need to do professionally with them.
The iToy is just a toy.
So stop getting all hoighty-toighty because you own a comparatively useless device (that all of us here could afford to buy multiples of, if they were of any use to us).
Get the one I mentioned earlier in this thread, and your opinion will change (not might change) incredibly rapidly.

I'd love to hear about this tablet you bought with development-level hardware for less that $500...

Sure, but if he'd bought three, for the same price as an iToy, he'd still have two spares.

Also, Android tablets can be expected to support standard mini USB charger slots, and head phone jacks for the foreseeable future.

Except of course it was an Android device that first dropped the head phone jack (Motorola, I think) and most of the major Android phone players are likely dropping the head phone jack in coming models (if reports can be believed).
As for the standard mini-USB chargers... they are notoriously bad (easily damaged over time). I'm hoping that USB C helps but I'm not holding my breath.

Did you try a "hard reset"?
Power on volume key down.
|
|
|
|
|
Open it up, remove the battery, leave it for 30 seconds, replace the battery, and try again. If that fails, it really is time for the recycling bin.
Cheers,

So, reimage your Win 10 device with Linux and then use Linux to try to reset the device.

Although your solution appeals to me greatly, you can do the same by installing the Android SDK on Windows.

After using my previous tablet for almost 4 years, the battery started to go bad. It would only hold a charge for about 4 hours and drain while it was turned off.
I finally switched to a Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 (the 8 inch version) and am very satisfied.
By the way, not sure your situation, but my old tablet didn't turn on after (I thought) it was charging all day. The usb had separated from the adapter and it wasn't charging, but actually draining.

Have you pulled off the back and ensured the battery is fully connected? I have had to do this to the Wife's Nexus 7 on several occasions over the past few years even though she never drops it, always looks after and seems to have problems with everything she owns.
Me and both kids have had no problems with our Nexus 7's.
