As I said if you put in a load of words, only the first few are used in the search, and phrase a question badly, and the results are useless.
What else to use? DuckDuckGo, its good, and isnt spyware.

Use verbatim mode. It seems to give the same quality results as early google. There is a Chrome plugin to enable it all the time. Or you can click on 'Tools' -> 'Verbatim', but you can only get there after you search once.
(Couldn't stand their results until I figured that out. Very friggin' annoying to have to search the search results!)

Useful tip, but given googles spyware functionality I will use DuckDuckGo from now on.

Another "my post was down-voted post" it was about MQA last week, no problem, bovvered.
I thought one of the reasons for this forum was for discussing what is interesting to the poster and may interest other tech-minded people.
I was excited about this new recording/playback technology, it would appear obviously nobody else was, at least not in the Lounge.
In a way my experience confirms what I already knew, the average person on the street really doesn't care about audio quality and new audio playback technology, this is a very niche product and will I'm quite sure fail similar to long list of possibly superior technologies before it eg. Betamax. etc.

1st rule of CP (or any online forum these days) - get a thick skin - not everyone (and on some days, not anyone) is going to like a post - the 'downvote' isnt personal - people either like the content or dont - suck it up, move on

OK, will do. Thanks for your reply.

I had a downvoted comment the other day too for no reason at all, just get over it. Some people are dumb, other are trolls, other are malicious, some other just have something against one of us for reasons only they know... There are 12,677,591 members as of now, you can't expect resonable behaviour from everyone (incidentally, that is the main reason the world sucks a lot IMHO).

Oh I wasn't in any way bothered about the down-vote.
It was the apparent lack of interest in the subject, the reason for todays post was just to confirm my findings regarding that lack of interest.

Option II: A lot of us here are getting up in years and that's not good for ears.
Even those who didn't blow there ears out with loud music.
Your quest, by the way, could have been deduced by the simple acceptance of 5-10% THD in the noise-makers mindlessly purchased by the modern brook for injection into their auditory canals. On the other hand - considering what's offered in place of music - what's the difference?
In my HS/College days, you were looking toward 0.5% (better cost too much). "Low" efficiency speakers with flat response curves; kind of all the stuff I guess you like.
If you feel like responding to this, please type louder.

OK NO PROBLEM, THANK YOU FOR YOUR REPLY
I count myself as an oldie too but I can still appreciate well recorded music.
All the latest releases are very compressed and sound like crap I agree, not just the latest pop either, the problem is most listeners think loud=sounds good, so all stuff is released mastered at the loudest possible level without distortion occurring.
That's the main reason MQA is interesting to me, I'm hoping the consumer will get less compressed better mastering quality, of course if MQA does go mainstream then it will be recorded loud too, so in a way I hope it remains unpopular.
I'm mainly a headphone user but the same applies.

I didn't see your post, but my guess is someone woke up on the wrong side of bed, and saw your post as advertising. Happens every now and then.

I guess so, I didn't post any links though, the post was just attempting to start a discussion. I'm going with the wrong side of the bed theory then.

There are only 10 types of people in the world, those who understand binary and those who don't.

If you change your screen name to something non-numeric, people might not get the idea that you're yet another bloody newbie who's posting technical questions in the Lounge.
It's a bit of a knee-jerk thing, because we get people like that in here all the time.

OK, so, in the interests of not having to remember an 8-digit number, I'll divide by 10,000,000, round up, and call you Number Six[^], for short.

I thought that worked out pretty well.

It's a Windows thing.
Did you try hiding all the drives that the installer might want to target with it's installation leaving only the C:\ drive visible?
This usually works for me.

Hello all,
This weekend my mother in law asked me why suddenly YouTube stopped showing videos at full screen in her MAC.
I've never used one so I told her that the best we could do was going in front of it and trying to see what was happening.
At the end, she has Mac OS X 10.5.8 and it looks like it is so old that all the external services start malfunctioning with it's safari version.
I tried to install chrome, Firefox, opera, tor, Maxthon, and I don't remember if I tried with others, but all of them refused to install in that old OS version.
Given this is an old computer 2.66GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 8GB DDR3 RAM memory, I don't know if she should buy the update DVD or not. In the Internet I've read contradictory information about that: some say that it won't work with that computer and some say it will.
What do you recommend? should she buy the DVD? and in case that DVD should be bought... which one? I've seen a lot of them in the Apple store.
PS: she is only using that computer to navigate the internet, seeing painting YouTube videos... so it has not much sense changing the computer.
Thank you all!

Most likely the processor will not be supported, but best contact a support rep from apple.
If the machine is for net only, perhaps save the time (and money) and put some user-friendly linux on it, it should work.
