I was hoping this wasn't IMPACTION as it has less pleasant meaning which comes up first if you google it...
But I suspect it is!

That's actually the first thing I thought of, unpleasantly... There was no way I was submitting it as a guess though!

Ordered Herself's Christmas present late on Sunday night from Amazon - and since I have Prime, it arrived yesterday.
And today I get an email from Amazon saying "You looked at this, buy one now, it's on sale, 25% cheaper".
Rub it in, why don't you? Ooooo......

Last time it happened to me I just e-mailed customer services and they refunded the difference. It's cheaper for them than you returning and re-ordering.

Understand exactly what you feel. I had a somewhat similar and really annoying experience just the other day: I normally prebook new DVD releases from one of the biggest online suppliers here in Sweden.
There was a TV series box I prebooked 3½ months ago, when they first announced that it COULD be prebooked.
It's still not released, but the release is imminent, and the other day, I got a customer mail from them: "If you prebook this box now, you get £5 off the price"
I sent them a REALLY pissed off mail: "I spend a lot of money on your site, both for DVD's and books, and I prebooked this box 3½ months ago, but I have to pay full price, while people who are booking it NOW gets a discount? I expect you to deduct the £5 from my price anyway, or I'm booking my DVDs somewhere else in the future"
Sent 2 mails so far, haven't received any reply. I have already started using another supplier.
It's quite obvious what happened, though: They've ordered a certain amount of the box and not gotten the number of prebookings they had expected. Thus they're trying to get rid of the possible overstocking by lowering the price... But I'll be damned if I'll be treated like that!

I ordered some school books for the girls the other day and Amazon said it would be 3-4 weeks delivery to the UK. They arrived yesterday at Mrs Wife's London office and should be with is next week.

Can you not get them delivered direct? Or does that cost silly money?

It's too complinated. I'm paying with a UK card and they keep blocking transactions because I want them here. Amazon won't deliver some things across borders, so inside Europe is fine but not here in the Sunny Southern Med.

You're going to be there for a while, so open a local bank account. It's got to make quite a few things a lot easier, even if it isn't your main one.

No, no it won't. Outside of online everything, and I mean everything, is cash. Mrs Wife's work has an account and card if we absobalylutely have to make a payment but it in't worth the hassle. We tried to book flights on BA.com back to UK for Christmas, but the card blocked it; this time as it was too much - 4 flights @ ~£250 each. I went to the BA office in town and the tickets were cheaper as I paid with good old fashioned folding. Even the school fees of £5k had to paid cash.
The only draw back is we're back to the old days of trying to make sure we have enough beer tokens when we go out so you end up taking more than you'll ever need.

Yup. Away this weekend for some rest. Only problem is there's a great diving beach nearby and it may be a tad colder than I can go in with just trunks so I'll need a 3/4 wetsuit. I'm also sure that all the fun will be below 5m and so THEN I won't just snorkel but I'll have to go back to rent a tank and find someone to buddy on the dive.
No doubt they'll know another place...

Doesn't Amazon usually refund you the difference if it becomes cheaper within X amount of time after buying it? I'm pretty sure I once got a refund like that.
