I thought that was Mark Twain who said that about lies.
I gave up when my Nokia 920 melted somewhat in a small house fire. I only lost NFC capability with the $200 Samsung Android I replaced it with.

I did too. Apparently when he did, he was quoting then British Prime Minister Disraeli.
It's still my favorite quote, even if it arrived in a trans-Atlantic manner

And not even that, as Disraeli apparently quoted it from another source. There is research on the origination here: Lies, Damned Lies and Statistics[^] . And as the term statistics came about in the 18th century, who knows how much further back the three part division of liars goes?

Looks like it was the late 19th century equivalent of a meme...
I'm good with that.

Why? Is it for a rational reason? Have you tried using their gear?
It was Windows Phone that finally pushed me onto iOS and Windows 8 that convinced me to move to MacOS.
I came into this game for the action, the excitement. Go anywhere, travel light, get in, get out, wherever there's trouble, a man alone. Now they got the whole country sectioned off, you can't make a move without a form.

My personal phone is a Lumia 830 upgraded to 10. Work is giving me an iPhone for work related stuff and I hate that interface with a passion:
-One button at bottom, I'm all confused when I need to press back to go to previous screen;
-All apps are always on the desktop, WP and Android both have customized list of apps on desktop and an all apps list which makes things easier.
And Android, I've got a tablet for apps I don't find on Windows Phone but I end up using it only to play games (these are basically the apps I don't have on WP).

Never found that a problem - had Android with a back button, seemed ok. Windows Phone back button was something else though, here's what I experienced:
* Open an app other than IE
* Open IE, go to a page (A), click a link to get to the next page (B).
* Open another app
* Go back to IE, click back - it takes you out of IE to the previous app. Click back again.. now what? Can I get back to page (A) in IE? If I remember right, I don't think I could, it just took me back to the previous app. Terrible design, hopefully they've changed that in later versions?

So your apps are displayed in a list rather than a grid? Hardly sounds like a deal breaker especially as you still like your favourite apps displayed in a grid.. It's probably a personal preference thing but I never liked the text-based screens in Windows Phone, just didn't seem to work design-wise on a mobile device.
Apple isn't perfect, far from it. I hate not having proper active widgets like Android on the desktop (why do I need to open the weather app to see what the current weather is like - yeah, yeah, changed somewhat in iOS 10, but still not exactly what I was hoping for ).
The way apps are suspended on iOS doesn't seem to be as good as it was before, the battery meter is unreliable and some apps like the music app just seem to keep getting worse - Apple isn't the same since Jobs went.
