Kudos. This discusses in one place many discussions I've had over the years with other developers. I especially liked your deconstruction of "methodology".

If you have an important point to make, don't try to be subtle or clever. Use a pile driver. Hit the point once. Then come back and hit it again. Then hit it a third time - a tremendous whack.

Typical - now we even have to pay air force pilots to sleep on the job! As if it wasn't enough that we've been paying commercial airline pilots for that (plus being drunk on the job) for decades...

True - Just for that reason, I would select a private airline over a governmental institution any day if I were a pilot. There, you can talk about "to serve and protect"
"Take the stick while I finish my beer, will you?"

Last night I coded a little "Hello, Ubuntu" console app, using VS Code, and compiled and ran it, all only on Ubuntu. Went without a hitch, installed .NET Core and VS Code in about 5 minutes. Worked first time.

Now, the really nice thing is that you can ran that exact code (without recompiling it even) on any OS that has .NET Core - Windows, iOS, other Linux...
(I had an article about it two months earlier)

Alex: Fix it? How you gonna fix this?
Skipper: Grit, spit and a whole lotta duct tape.

You can even pull a trick to compile it with .NET included, so the host OS needs no (probably very little) setup before running your app. Self-contained .NET Core Applications[^]

Yes, but in that case you have different builds for each platform, as .NET Core is platform dependent...

OK, thats interesting, why is MSFT releasing for free a product for Ubuntu?
This is all kind of funny really, Microsoft got slapped on the wrist for changing the Java standard ( to J++) and got told to remove it, and all references to Java, from their products, and then came up with .Net (which is just Microsofts JVM that handles Microsofts p-code), renamd J++ to C#, and now they port it all to Linux.
They dont give up do they!

It's also ported to Apple, and is all open source.

Yes, that very thought did slightly cloud my happiness at doing the console app so easily, but I don't doubt it will happen some time.

Cops: Immigrant hit robber with car in bank parking lot[^]
- Portuguese immigrant gets mugged at ATM
- He flees in his car (wife/child with him)
- Comes back later hoping to at least recover his debit card
- Thief still there, makes attempt to mug him (thinking it's a different guy)
- Guy drives his Chevy Cobalt into thief
- Retrieves his debit card/cash and leaves the scene
- Surveillance cameras corroborated his story
The attacker, a 49-year-old man, suffered severe head wounds, and will be hospitalized for at least a week, Rosenbaum said. He will be charged with robbery after he's discharged.
LOL, that is awesome
