That makes no sense. If I give you all my money, how do I buy bacon?

With his money, because he has to give it to you.

Are you saying then, that we need to give?

I hate it when my desktop icons get all whacked! Usually when this happens, I also lose the left hand pane (quick access) in explorer. Maybe they've fixed this in the anniversary update??? I know, I know,...just restart and shut up!

There are apps for that.
Iconoid is the best, but certain instabilities in the "best ever" operatin system become worse when you use it, but DesktopOK (and several others on nonags[^]) haven't been broken by that best of all operating systems, yet.

Desktop icons have been going "all whacked" since Windows 3.1[*], so what makes you think that'd be fixed in the anniversary update?
[*] I haven't used the previous versions long enough to remember whether they had similar problems
(What's your definition of "all whacked" today?)

One example is that all .txt files now have a nice big Chrome icon! I keep a lot of notes in txt files so they are all over the place...makes finding something more difficult. I remember this happening in previous OS's with the exception of 7 with which I really had very few problems.

Looks like something has gone behind your back and made some adjustments to your default program settings.

Yeah - Win10 did a bunch of them with music and video extensions a week or so ago on my PC: I got a large bunch of Notifications telling me about each change so I could put 'em all back.

That thing's still around?
It's been a while, but I've definitely seen it before. Something about the shell icon cache.
[Edit]
See if any of these[^] help. I remember having to delete this iconcache.db file mentioned on the page. Not sure if any of the other suggestions would help.

I found whenever I run my older version of Winzip, Windows 10 changes all my default programs to whatever it considers the defaults should be. With it all the relevant icons change as well. Very irritating! I don't understand why just WinZip should trigger this felony. It did not happen with Win 8 or 7. It's kinda weird!

My icons are nailed with some blue arrow. So they are rock solid like on Windows 7
Press F1 for help or google it.

This reminds me of the YouTube video The Website Is Down - Sales Guy vs. Web Dude - YouTube[^]. The sales guy had a unique arrangement of his icons and the tech support guy (Web Dude) rearranged them in alphabetical order. The sales guy got all upset, but tech support had taken a screen shot of the desktop before the rearrangement, so tech support just put the image as the sales guy's background.
