You are assuming. He may not have known exactly what would happen, but he may have checked beforehand to ensure that what would happen was not generally lethal. Mythbusters has done it in an oven, and you can find quite a few videos on YouTube. Very easy to figure out and it appears he was only working with a 22.

true you can lie on the internet. A little harder to fake video. Plus there are so many examples. there has even been testing with 50 cal cartridges.
Quote:
In Episode 85 of the television show "Myth Busters," the danger of putting bullets in a fire was tested by placing .22, .44 and .50 caliber bullets in an oven and then turning on the heat. All of the bullets fired when they got hot, but none of them had sufficient force to shoot through the oven door. By contrast, bullets fired from a gun at an oven door went right through it. A similar test was performed on an open flame with the same results --- bullets dropped into the fire went off but were not dangerous.
I guess you do not trust Mythbusters either. There are probably better sources than I have found. He did do some additional testing before, and the bullet did not seem to have done any damage to the wood, which means that it would still not cause much damage as long as more vulnerable parts were protected (like the eyes).

The video starts with an ad about yellow pages. And it went on. And on. And on. And then I closed the browser.
I can't stand untargeted advertising. Show me an ad for a cool gadget. Or for software. Or for a bike. And give me the message quickly and directly.
Stop assuming I care. Make me care: but do it in 3 seconds.
(OK, maybe I need another coffee and/or a beer. It's been that kinda day)

But, be that as it may, they're right. While we, in my 'office', will stand at the entrance-way of our cubicles, hands over hearts, singing those joyful words in pristine unison, our spirits will rise. All the political parties can, at last, unite, with one true and faithful vision.
Scapegoating is alright and everything, but when the target is true and just? Woo Hoo!

Okay. The guy has a privacy fence around his yard. This implies he has neighbors. He's setting off small caliber ammunition in random directions, endangering said neighbors.
I would assume this video alone would be sufficient evidence to indict him on charges of premeditated reckless assholery, or something similar.

Horsepoopoo. If not constrained by a chamber and a barrel, a cartridge produces no energetic particles. The primary danger presented by an unconstrained cartridge in a fire is shrapnel from the brass case disintegrating, with a range of about 3 feet.
