I'm using it for Python. I was previously using Notepad++, but I'm finding the intellisense and code marking to be so much better than Notepad++, which, in turn, was better than Idle.

ANYTHING is better then Idle. I tried it on the Raspberry Pi and ended up with Geany but think I'll see if VS Code will run on the Pi...wouldn't that be a kick!

Looks like Scott Hanselman has already done that[^] - you have to build from source, but that's relatively simple on Linux...
Java, Basic, who cares - it's all a bunch of tree-hugging hippy cr*p

Stuart thanks for the link, was going to look into that today.
It works great on Ubuntu without doing anything special and was using it yesterday to do some Node.js coding.

it's also a must have for Powershell editing... way better than the ISE and better than other powershell-oriented IDEs out there. also in this week's insiders build (now daily builds) you can now launch powershell as the integrated terminal too

Pretty productive on Linux. I use it to write Node.js and Python.
But the Vim plugin is like a toy

I have spent hours today clearing out cr@p, taking it to the tip, jet washing the patio, and so forth.
And the worst bit? I'll need to do it all over again fairly soon!
Why can't it be like development? At least there you know that if you put in the effort to do a proper job, you won't have to do the same thing again, and again, and again, and ....

The solution seems obvious: Build a gardening-bot!

Great idea, build big metal machines that are stronger than we are and give them one of the most awful jobs in the world ever so they'll come to hate us and want to kill us
At least those are the emotions I'm feeling when gardening

But compare it to the other option: QA...
However it looks the same mostly if you look closer...

Alex: Fix it? How you gonna fix this?
Skipper: Grit, spit and a whole lotta duct tape.

Because you're approaching the problem like a SysAdmin, not like a Dev.

Just think of gardening like working with a development team. Yank out the weeds, wait a week or two, yank out the weeds again, etc. etc. etc.
At least, as a solo developer, you can say you're doing "organic programming" because the weeds are replenishing the lost nutrients in the soil.

Those of us stuck in squalid garrets who would kill to have a garden (and a Mrs Us to make us tend to it) say suck it up, you wimp!
Just remember there's always someone worse off than you ... and it's usually me!

Here is where you really get to appreciate the wife - she does the cleaning/cooking/laundry etc on a daily cycle. I can't imagine doing a job like that, repeating endlessly the same work over and over again with no hope of reprieve. I know the jobs are essential and I thank Ghu there are people who can do them.
Have sympathy for me, I will be moving from a condo in Singapore to an acreage in Cairn next year so I will get to know the garden really well.

Are you mental? You finally get to move away from the oppressive heat and humidity of Singapore and then choose the oppressive heat and humidity of Cairns.

Yeah yeah I know but I cannot afford and don't like Sydney and the rest of the family is in Cairns. At least it has a little variation, I'm looking forward to the winters where it gets down as low as 24 ah bliss.

I didn't think you would move to Sydney, but thought you may have moved a little further south to allow for things to be a bit cooler and a bit less humid.

Nope, we are an equal opportunities familiy!
I.e., These days I do most of the cooking, cleaning, laundry, ironing, and now it would seem the damn gardening as well...
