I told him NewEgg had a memorial day sale going on.
And he asked me what I was looking at and I told him memory and that I had thought about upgrading my 16GB to 32GB.
So he wanders off and a couple of minutes later he comes back and throws 2 *GB sticks in my lap and say happy birthday dad.
Awesome!
And he leaves for USMC OCS Sunday for 10 weeks, sure gonna miss him.

Yeah I'm very proud of him.
When he;s done with the 10 weeks he'll return to college and get his BS then go into the service next year when he's done.

I'm sure we can come to an arrangement if they come with storerooms of excess computer equipment.
I'll just upgrade 'em to Temazepam.

Might have a 1200 baud modem?

And you say there are two of them, with 1200 baud each -- that makes 2400 baud!
Give me a few days, because before entering into such an agreement, I have to consult with the missus*.

I hope I can raise my two hell raisers to be half as good as him. Then I can get one stick from each of them.

43 inches of 4k goodness: [^].
Typically Dell's higher-end monitors, for whatever reason, are sold here (in Thailand) at an extreme mark-up compared to other monitors, or tv's.
Assuming I could hornswaggle this beast into the budget for under US $1500 (almost certainly impossible), that would translate into basic cost-of-living (rent for a nice two-bedroom two-bath house in a great neighborhood with air-con office, food, laundry, etc.) for about four months here (yes, I live very frugally, by choice).
so much for window-shopping.
cheers, Bill

My LG 40" 4K monitor TV can only do 30Hz over DisplayPort, but I only paid CAD$500 for it. I'm more than willing to put up with the slight delay when dragging windows around.
A USD$1500 monitor would simply have stayed on the store shelf, even without the shortcomings mine has.
