Even if you don't understand, I'm sure Mark does. His wife is from China as far as I know. I've been to China - even deep into the Hebei province, as well as Beijing and the Great Wall. Fascinating country!

The people and the government are great. It's the party members who are like traffic wardens with too much power.

Don't be silly.
You're American; you're programmed to jerk your knees and wrap yourself in a flag, at the mention of certain other races!
Try to put the point across that other races are just people, like the rest of us, and the knee-jerkers will start calling you names and acting like you're evil.

Let's get serious for a moment: I have seen Chinese people at work with my own eyes in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and here in the USA. They are an intelligent and industrious people that I admire, but I will never accept the Chinese governmental system (excluding what I saw in Taiwan and Hong Kong). They could be so much more in a free society!

Putz over there is typing the function name as "newlinkhere", which won't work. Those names are case sensitive.

Which the company I worked for purchased the source from a company in Germany.
And while running it on a test machine a file named "errorlog.txt" appeared on the root of C drive with only the following text:
In installdarpanviapropriettycode function Anybody else see the acronym "darpa" in there (right after "install")? (And couldn't they spell propriety correctly!)
Now the acronym "darpa" refers to a US Agency: Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency
So, code from a private company references DARPA? Maybe DARPA/NSA had someone on the inside put in a backdoor?
Wouldn't surprise me.

Government can give you nothing but what it takes from somebody else. A government big enough to give you everything you want is big enough to take everything you've got, including your freedom.-Ezra Taft Benson

Oh, the irony!
The word you're looking for is proprietary:
Nonstandard and used only by one particular organization...
not propriety:
Correctness in behaviour and morals; good manners, seemliness.

LOL. But maybe they meant "correctness in behavior".

Can't you look in the source and tell where that file was written from ?
«There is a spectrum, from "clearly desirable behaviour," to "possibly dodgy behavior that still makes some sense," to "clearly undesirable behavior." We try to make the latter into warnings or, better, errors. But stuff that is in the middle category you don’t want to restrict unless there is a clear way to work around it.» Eric Lippert, May 14, 2008

Indeed, I can. That won't tell me who put it there, though. But, I can look to see what it's doing.
