That's a load of crap, John. Everyone knows the upgrade takes days.

Coincidentally, the other week, an attempt was made to "upgrade" my laptop to a cr@p OS.

Two nights ago my spare Win7 laptop was on while I was working with the primary laptop. I look up and it has started the Win10 upgrade by itself. Bah, Humbug. Let it finish (as there's no cancel button.)
Tried to get some old programs running -- a couple of hours later said to myself, why should I fight to get old reliable programs running? So started the "return to Win7 OS". After it was back to Win7, I installed the "GWX Control Panel." Kind of like using a plunger on the toilet to push out a blockage and throwing in some "Lime Away."

Summit? Barely a mound top, by the look of it.

Partial text of a recent question:
Quote: I just concluded my Qbasic programming and next semester we are going into Java.
|

I saw a question about QBasic a few weeks and I was curious to see how QBasic works for me...and realized that I can't even install it...it was part of Windows in Me last time...So where they still use it as a learning tool?
Skipper: We'll fix it.
Alex: Fix it? How you gonna fix this?
Skipper: Grit, spit and a whole lotta duct tape.

Everywhere Win10 won't install itself...
Bad command or file name. Bad, bad command! Sit! Stay! Staaaay...

That is...nowhere? This morning even my sink asked for OS upgrade (and I though it runs on Linux)...

Nah...sinks are TAP devices[^] so they run on Android.

That explains why after the upgrade it leaks...

So what else is new?
My problem with this bugware is a totally different one: I don't want it and I don't want Windows Update to use up a month's bandwith to download it, just in case I change my mind or forget to insist on not wanting it.
Slowly I'm getting really tired of them and if they are 'successful', then I will get rid of their bugware altogether and have some fun with Linux.

Fun, as many things, is relative. 10 years ago I probably would have sounded like you, but after diverse little incidents, like Vista or Weight, my patience is growing thin. PCs are not telephones, Mickeysoft is not Apple, professional users are not consumers and life is too short to wait for them to get the proper perspective again.

As reported on Insider News too, Microsoft released a 'Security' update for IE 11, that can lead you easily to upgrade to W10...

There must have been a different update that did this because I have automatic updates turned off on my machine and actively refused the update referenced in the Insider.
After the reboot, I had the little Win10 icon back.
So I broke down and installed the tool that nukes all that Win 10 upgrade stuff and won't worry about it again.
